Internet, phone, tv provider??

edited July 2009 in General
So my 3 year contract for Telus Enhanced DSL is finally up and I'm wondering what all of you use..Does anyone have experience with Bell?

I had a horrible experience with Telus enhanced...it was really slow, especially torrents....shaky connection...horrible tech support.

So I'm definitely changing my ISP, and hoping to make the transition to HD! and while I'm at it, might as well change/alter my phone service as everyone seems to be offering deals right now. Anyone here have a bundle of all 3?

My bf has shaw, and it's pretty fast. No problems with torrenting lots either...

I have Telus so I can't tell you much lol.

I'm on shaw and using some chinese VOIP service for home phone, AIC I believe. Cheap family ftw. VOIP is not the most fax-friendly thing, though.

Speed for normal 'high speed' is decent, but I'm using the super oldschool modem which may impair me from getting special technology upgrades, such as speedboost.

We packaged it with basic television + chinese channels.

Shaw is a lot better than any other.

Bell is the worse of the worse for anything.

Yeah, I gotta go with Shaw. I had TELUS internet, and comparably, it was always slower than Shaw. I think it has a lot to do with that shitty wireless router/modem combo TELUS has been giving out the last few years. They fucking suck.

    Shaw's been great for me.

It's a good idea to run a connection speed test occasionally and call your ISP if you're not getting the speed you're paying for. They should either upgrade your modem, fix your connection, or give you a refund.

Not with telus, they said my download speed was close to what enhanced offers, so they basically told me to fuck off...

I agree on the router/gateway thing...you can change only basic settings and all of the "advanced" settings are locked by a telus employee password.

Apparently, they also throttle your connection when your using torrents, which sucks cuz i always am.

Also they made it so I could only connect the gateway to one phone jack in the house. Minor inconvenience but still annoys me...

Is Shaws Digital phone reliable as Telus home phone?

Huh? I had horrible experience with Shaw. They cut me off for days when I start seeding and downloading. I had great experiences with Telus. No bottlenecks, and great tech support.

Bell and Rogers sucks ass. But both Shaw and Telus rents their telecommunication lines from them anyways, so you're screwed either way if Bell or Rogers decides to be more of a dick.

Shaw for tv and internet. I think my internet is fast....20 Mb/s according to speedtest.net

@geogeek: thanks to shaw powerboost it is very hard to tell your actual download speeds with an internet speed test like that! (It gives you superfast speeds for the first 30 seconds or something of a download, before dropping to regular speeds (which are probably half of that.))
nonetheless it is handy when downloading small-medium sized files I guess

Speedtest is just a measure. I never said it was 20mbps forever, did I?
Powerboost is an added feature. Did you just point out a benefit of Shaws? I think you did.
