Am I the only one who is truely unafraid of this H1N1 Flu? I think this whole H1N1 Flu fear are blown out of proportion. First of all, it is just a flu and if your immunity system is strong enough, you should be in good shape. Also, outside of Mexico, there was not a single case of death and most, if not all, of the infected ones have since recovered.

If you are really that scared, here is an article on how to build natural immunity against flu in general. http://www.naturalnews.com/026168.html

I can assure you that this flu will not bring the end to the Human race. There was actually a swine flu back in 1970s and I didn't even know about this until I did some research on swine flu.

    HAHAHAHAHAH student....do your research!
That article...was one of the stupidest things I have ever read. I stopped reading at homeopathy.

The reason there taking extra precautions is because the h1n1 isnt a "swine" flu virus but has the components of a couple of viruses. The virus has shown that it can sustain transmission from human to human which is pretty dangerous. If the strain evolves into something more fatal, or we just havnt seen its full effect yet, we have a full blown aporkalypse . Taking Centrum everyday isnt gunna help you than! haha

Also, the media is just scaring ppl about this whole thing..fear= more viewers = $$$

Oh please, virus evolves. I am not suggesting that we should take no extra precautions, but like I said, this fear was blown out WAY of proportion.

Don't most, if not all, virus has the ability to sustain transmission from human to human? Off the top of my head, there is the common cold and HIV. Like I said, many people who are infected in this H1N1 virus has since recovered. Until there are multiple confirmed deaths outside of Mexico, I will remain optimistic and go about living my life.

I will still be taking my vitamin and exercising regardless.

At least we have something we can agree on...

actually i believe there's 1 death in states.. i caught a glimpse of news report last night on that.. =S but yeah.. i'll start paying attention to it once it is determined that this bad boy is gonna evolve and get stronger in human transmissions other than that.. it's all speculation.. =\

btw.. does anyone else find it funny how spooked HK is about this? i guess SARS really scared the wits outta them.. =x

Never mind the fact that it's already spreading and containment is now considered impossible, but just the fact that this virus is suspected to have caused a number of deaths in Mexico alone (and may then actually be harmful), is enough reason for people to give this some attention.

In short, just because nobody's dying outside of Mexico does not mean everybody else is safe.

Media tends to overrate issues like this, and I don't think anybody can draw a line on how far these news networks can go. In my opinion it's better that way as things like these need massive attention, rather than letting them slip by. From a different point of view, they're also providing information and, as usual, it's up to the people to make the judgment.

well egypt wants to kill 400,000 pigs
  • edited May 2009
they already killed the pigs lol, and didnt Madagascar already shut their borders down?
  • edited May 2009
This is from the WHO website

10 deaths in total (one in the US, 9 in Mexico)

    http://www.who.int/csr/don/2009_05_01a/en/index.html

They've also mentioned there is no connection to pork products and there is no reason to restrict travel. Looks like the media has completely overblown the whole issue

Third world countries, as unfortunate as it maybe, are more susceptible to pandemic and diseases. No offense to Mexico and Mexican, but Mexico is a third world country with little to no regulation regarding public hygiene/ environmental protection (one of the many reasons why American companies and factories are moving to Mexico) and public health, plus they have a much lower life standard than ours. Even if the Americans doesn't have public healthcare, they at least have the resources and funding to diagnose and hopefully cure the disease and illness.

I was talking to other people the other day regarding this fear of pigs, and one of the person joking suggested that price of pork will drop as a result of this fear.

    Mmm bacon.

Have you heard about the HN1C virus that started appearing in Canada a few weeks ago? It is unknown how many Canadians are infected, but CDC analysts estimate the figure is above 80%.

Symptoms may include uncontrolled facial hair growth, and increased consumption of alcohol.

The media have termed it "playoff fever".

Killarney has a student that has H1N1, poor guy. I don't think the school closed though. All the cases up here are MILD though, so no biggie.
