Hello All

edited April 2009 in General
Hi everyone my name is Valeashia and I'm from The Bahamas (also known as the land of sun, sand and sea). I'm going to be starting SFU in september. I'm very excited about it, especially since I'm going to be headed there from so far away. It is definitely going to be a big change in scenery and weather but I know it will be an unforgettable experience! I'm looking forward to chatting with you guys soon!

    Traffic
    Multicultural
    Plenty of stereotypes

thanks milk. Well before I got into it, I thought it would be hard but its not so much. It is just basically studying and taking your time learning to pronounce the words correctly. One of the main things to remember are the tones. You say something with the wrong tone and then u may end up insulting some one lol. So tones are definitely very important. As the class progresses it does get a little harder, but so far I've been making all A's in classes/on exams..however, the midterm was a bit difficult. so I got a B....but I'm doing pretty well. My teacher is amazing so that definitely helps alot too. Are you taking mandarin too or just thinking about it?

    How'd you hear about talksfu?

You'll probably encounter a bit of Vancouver summer at the beginning of fall, so that's somehow welcoming. And snow will probably come towards the end of the fall semester. Snows only fun when it's new and fresh, after that you'll probably start to miss the sun like everybody else.

I heard about it from a post in the "Our first year @ SFU" face book page.
