edited February 2009 in General
Anyone have plans yet for Valentines day? Me and my gf are planning on going to dinner somewhere but I can't think of anything other than the revolving restaurant...any suggestions?

how about Aqua Riva? That's a pretty fancy place high class sorta thing. Dunno if the food is any good but i do know it's quite expensive.

Yeah, the BK Lounge is good any day of the year.

Get the trifecta, Whopper Cheese, Poutine and Chocolate Milkshake.

We're going to freakin' Shabusen. Yes! All you can eat in a really hot crimson dress, then dancing. Cuz I love food, and love dancing.

Although, all you can eat while wearing skin tight dress does not sound at first very practical.

    Otherwise, Macaroni Grill!

A great japanese place is Shiro's on Cambie and 16th. It's the best sushi place :) They' are usually really packed but it's worth the wait :)

Maxine's Hideaway! Great food, yummy drinks, and a burlesque show. Yummy!

Thanks for the great suggestions guys! I took a look at the websites for stone grill, aqua riva, shabusen, and maxine's hideaway and they all look like awesome places to dine. Maxine's hideway is actually very different and it looks entertaining so I might go there after v-day sometime.

One of my favorite restaurants is Sandbar on Granville Island. I think it was the Honey Lager that I had - best beer ever...and the food + service was really good too if you like seafood.

Sanafir on Granville is another really great place to eat if your planning on partying after, because they give you a pass to get into Republic and the food is pretty light.

Any more? I just realized that Vancouver has a lot of really good places to eat...

I went there for my birthday and yeah the burlesque show combined with the ambience of the restaurant/lounge itself is definitely worth going to. I even got a birthday kiss from the burlesque dancers lol.

They also have a lounge with a bar and dancefloor in a separate room from the restaurant that has their own dj, basically a small club. All in one building.

The food wasn't the best, but pricing was decent, entertainment was great.

not trying to be mean but the only decent recommendation has been aqua riva. suggesting shabusen for valentines day is out of the question. my recommendations are cioppino's, connor butler and william tell. if your looking for a more buffet type place, sutton place's fleuri was great last time i went for brunch.

hey lol aqua riva was my suggestion :) glad to see someone likes the idea lol

omg.. their chocoholic buffet is deliciously sinful.. X) it's a good place to go if you or your partner has a huge sweet tooth.. downside.. it's gotten expensive.. =.=" last time i checked it's $24 alone? i think you can get a deal if you also have dinner there.. but yah.. CHOCOLATEEEEE...

Oh why the hell not? Oh man, delightful eats! I guess if you're trying for pure romanticism it isn't the place. I don't think I'd recommend it, I was only saying that's where I'm going!

Honestly, if you are trying to be uber romantic, why not a home cooked meal, that you take on a night time picnic with candles to the beach? That is, if it's not too cold.

Doing the nice restaurant thing is over done. Be creative!

Hell, I'd love to have a few bits and bits of food in the back of a limo as my "dinner" and then a fun night of dancing or taking in the VSO, which is having a special concert put on for Feb 14th.

    Check this place out

    http://www.opentable.com/promo.aspx?m=73&ref=2138&pid=102

And even better, you can make reservations online =)

And as for Aqua Riva, theres a beautiful view but I wouldn't recomend it, it's was just okay. Another website you can check out is Dine Here. They have a list of top rated restaurants and reviews.

I would recommend Seasons Hill top Bistro, Joe Fortes, Chow, or C's Restaurant. I took my gf to Caffe de Medici last year for Valentine's. They have a fairly romantic atmosphere but I thought there food was okay only. I would recommend Seasons Hill top if you're looking for a view. Mind you, it's hard to get a reservation now. I tried to make reservations for CinCin this year way back at the end of January and they were already booked up. So the only spot available was 5 pm and 9 pm on Feb 14. And they're also looking for a deposit. Good luck w/ ur reservations.
