Darwin evolves in movie theaters

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Screenwriter Chase Palmer, who is developing considerable heat for a fictional mystery thriller about Alfred Hitchcock, is set to bring a project involving Charles Darwin to the big screen.

"Evolution's Captain," is based on the book "Evolution's Captain: The Dark Fate of the Man Who Sailed Charles Darwin Around the World," written by Peter Nichols.
The novel revolves around Robert FitzRoy, the captain of the H.M.S. Beagle, and the relationship the two developed. The book was published in 2003 by HarperCollins.
The Focus Features adaptation will trace the men's 30-year relationship and their debate over the theory of evolution.
The project is being produced by Cathy Schulman, who previously worked on the Oscar-winning "Crash" as well as on "The Illusionist."
Palmer's Hitchcock-themed "Number 13" is scheduled to begin shooting this winter with Dan Fogler as the Master of Suspense, along with
Ben Kingsley and
Ewan McGregor.
