upass and etc opt out..
There are so many more fees excluding the tuition fees... I wonder if you can actually opt out these upass fees, or student services fees by any chance?
Also, anyone took Buec before?
It's my first time taking buec... and I just realized that besides the amount of money i need to pay for the 4 credit course, I also need to pay for $205.60 for the buec course fee... Is this correct? I always thought you need to pay a bit more for each credit for business courses... not an extra course fee..

And the BC Health Plan doesn't count, and that is just so stupid. I don't need private health care.
and for upass see http://students.sfu.ca/upass/eligibility.html
...Shit, I could've applied for a subsidy last semester
You can also go to the radio station and ask them for your money back.
It's just going to look embarassing for you when youre taking 15 minutes out of your life asking for a 3.50 cheque, because the student fee is broken down.
Speaking of Opt Out, does anyone know how I can get my UG Rec & Athletic Fee? I can really use that $63.10 in MY Recreational & Athletic Fund.
I think if youre not on campus maybe? Even then I'm not sure you cant get it back actually.
the health plan you can opt out on a yearly basis with proof that you're already covered by an extended health plan (the BC one isn't extended, that's why it doesn't count). it's a little tedious the first time you do it, and you're automatically enrolled in it again the next year. you'll need to opt out for every year you don't want it, but you won't have to re-submit the proof (just uncheck the two boxes).
there's also the student activity fee (or whatever) which the SFSS collects and distributes to the various clubs. you can opt out of the vast majority (if not all) of them, but you have to go to the individual organizations to get it, every single semester. suffice it to say: extremely tedious.
I get prescription drugs and they sent me this thing in the mail (the SFSS health and dental plan) that says 80% off prescription drugs, but honestly the drugs cost less than $30 every year or so.
