Do you have a budget?

edited December 2008 in General
If so, how do you decide how much to spend on what (ie. groceries, food, entertainment, etc.) and how do you keep yourself from going over your budget?

Yup. Always have to have a budget. I usually just keep to what I need to buy and try to refrain from distractions or temptations.

My budget is whatever I have in my bank account...

Fo serial, I get a certain ammount of dollars every two weeks. $350 of that goes to my savings account to save up for my next semesters rez. I put aside $50 for RRSPs and $150 for insurance if it is the middle of the month. I pay off my credit card, then if I have any extra money left over. I put $100 in my savings, to save, then I buy groceries, and whatever is left is my spending money for the next two weeks.

I don't really have a budget but I pretty much know what I spend. I spend around $70-$120/week on food, $50/week on gas, $100 per month on things I don't really need, and the rest of the money goes toward my student loan debt.
