Christmas Gifts!

edited December 2008 in General
Have any of you started your Christmas shopping yet????

My exams end next week so I think I'm going to hold off until then, but I haven't started looking! Family is usually pretty easy, but I'm stuck at what to get for the boyfriend, and not a very creative person (which I think I've talked about a lot, haha). Plus his birthday is in early January so ideally I'm looking for two great gifts.

What do you get for the person who has everything?? And feel free to share ideas for friends/family (=

I have no idea what I'm getting people for Christmas. I hardly ever bought presents.

I've given my boyfriend a diary before--with the pages already filled. Basically a collection of poems and thoughts of/about him.

It sounds pretty gay, I know. But...

I suppose my suggestion would be to make something? A scarf, a mixed CD, or even a VIDEO (I did that for his birthday one year).

I usually give family stuff as according to their needs/wants.

Some pretty thoughtful gifts I've gotten down the years though:

    - Hand made book mark.
    - Bunny!
    - Hand knit towel with my name engraved.

keep in mind that although you may tell your significant other the video is "for their eyes only" that is far from the case, esp when u break up or if the guy is a dick which most guys are :P

Nicole you can give your boyfriend sexual presents, I am sure every guy would like that.

I don't know what I am getting my family or if I am even going to get my lady friend something. Brothers, probably a video game, maybe rock band II and my young brother wants either skate shoes or snowboarding lessons.

My grandfather I might take to a Canuck game.

Past that I haven't though of what to get anyone for gifts, nothing else stands out in my mind.

My boyfriend and I decided to just go shopping together this year and buy each other stuff we want lol. Takes away the element of surprise, but I think it will be fun =)

In my family, we operate differently. Instead of wrecking our brains figuring out what to get for each other, we just give each other money or ask each other to "sponsor" gifts already purchased. For example, my mom purchased a pair of $300 ear rings and she asked me to sponsor half of it, which I did. The gift opening on Christmas nights just for shows and family videos.

For some reason, I thought of the same thing too and I was going to suggest this before I realized that this may upset you. Thanks for being the tip of the spear, JayDub.

As bufli mentioned, a video is not something you want your ex-significant other to hold onto in the event of a breakup. May I suggest a LIVE show? Perhaps find a time when you and him are alone, and then do whatever you want to do with him.

Yeah, AP is supposed to be a higher-end lingerie brand... wouldn't mind getting something from there except my parents would freak if they found it in the laundry XD

Why give gifts in the first place? Make it special by spending time together. I know you and your BF do that every day, but I don't know, try something different.

As for me, I'm giving my parents an expensive bottle of wine or something alcohol related and a nice CD player (my mom always wanted one). I'm giving my brother an AOL CD. Should be nice. I also got a Watchmen comic book I'm giving to a friend and among other things.

why waste his time with anything else? u know thats what ur man wants to see... he looks at u wearing clothes long enough as is... now a vid of u taking clothes off will prob entertain him more then one of you talking about random shit he prob dosnt want to hear (unless hes emo and needs that kinda lg talk to prevent him from cutting himself)

Almost 26, he's an accountant so right now he doesn't have a lot of time for leisure/sports, haha. He's a huge fan of Smallville so I was thinking of buying the 7th (?) season as a small side gift because he's been indirectly hinting at that, but I always make fun of him for it so I'm not sure how smart that would be.

He can basically buy whatever he wants, so I'm just looking for something a little personal. Aside from the lingerie!

omg i love agent provacateur.. their designs are exquisite... and just a word of caution for the ladies (and guys) out there.. VS is facing a class action lawsuit where people are suing them for finding formaldehyde in their bras.. =\ that isn't such a nice gift to get on both the giving and receiving end.. (thank goodness i didn't splurge on VS products this year yet) =S
  • edited November 2008
^ I just read about it. That's gross! Haha I usually splurge at VS every year too... good thing I didn't make my shopping trip to the States yet.

now that i think about it.. if i spend hundreds to get some classy lingerie to keep his visual appetite happy and he decides to just..... rip it apart.. i'm seriously going to slap the daylights out of him.. unless he replaces the collection afterwards...

oh dear I turned a christmas-gift thread into a lingerie one :embarassed:

back on topic: you could bake some cookies and put them into a nice self-decorated box :teeth: or uhm... my gf once gave me a self-made calendar with our best pictures in it, I thought that was cool... otherwise... a pair of squash racquets and get some exercise with him... or if he spends a lot of time in front of a monitor get him the usb rocket launcher ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kUSQRyteeg ) :)

well i think it's acceptable for a woman to have expectations with her lingerie.. sometimes it's not just for the guy.. but also how she feels wearing them.. and if she feels good about the stuff she wears then goody for her.. =) classy was referring to the lingerie.. certainly not the sex.. =P lol..

    lmao
actually i think Christmas is a dumb holiday and if it wernt for living under my parents roof for now i wouldn't celebrate it, its over rated and consumer oriented...

as for the cookies thing... honestly ive gotten cookies b4 and from a guys point of view, unless were like madly in love with u, were gonna be like.. "umm ok thanks..."
if anything make him a thoughtful card

Haven't started Christmas shopping yet, too busy. I work in the mall anyways so I can just pick things up here and there when I'm on my break, before/after work, etc.

As for boyfriends, you should buy him something small (ie. videogame) and make them dinner! Like really masculine-ish, ie. big, fat, juicy steak and oven-roasted potatoes! Then indulge in a dark chocolate torte, open up gifts, then surprise him in some sexy lingerie and indulge in some passionate sex.

That's what I would do atleast... but no boyfriend for me :)
