This is a few days old, but I haven't had the time to post it. As the title states, cellular provider Fido has relaunched with a new logo, a new look, and all new rate plans that don't have system access fees. I've reviewed a few of their plans...and they don't seem too spectacular, but you certainly get what you pay for.

    whoaa site looks so different
kind of stupid since they just redesigned the whole site a couple of months ago

At TELUS? I've heard of them doing it, but I'm almost sure they won't. Remember, Fido is the Rogers Wireless value-brand. They're following in the footsteps of what TELUS and Bell have been doing for a long while now. Koodo and Solo both haven't been charging the SAF for a good while. Now, if Rogers decides to do away with the SAF, well, TELUS and Bell would be in a bit of trouble, since they have a new network to build.

I know the story says that Rogers is getting rid of the SAF as well, but that's just plain wrong. My understanding is that they have no plans currently, but they might in the future. The article makes it sound like they've already gotten rid of the SAF.

hmm... well then.. block those numbers? =P
lol.. but that's just plain evil.. ;)

From my understanding cellular carriers in Canada don't have the option of blocking specific numbers from calling you. Landlines have that feature though.

Solo charges the SAF. I get charged $6.95 every bill for it.

Well, I know their older plans charge the SAF, but if you go to www.solomobile.ca the very first page, at the bottom right, shows that there's no SAF.

That's the same with Fido though, all of their old plans will still charge the SAF. It's only if you switch to one of their newer plans that they won't charge it. The shitty thing is, if you're on an old Fido plan, and want to switch to a non-SAF plan, you have to pay a $25 transfer fee.
