my friend is taking eng 199 distance right now she said the midterm was hard.. it was non-stop writing for 3 hours but it is a writing-intense course like all other 100-level english course so expect a lot of writings and readings
i took bus 237 with zorana svedic during spring 2007 and taking bus 251 with anne mcdonald currently
MIS is basically ALL memorization, so you'll do well if you can memorize 251 will be easy as breeze if you took accounting back in high school and know the basic stuff (Financial statements, Debit/Credit, etc.)
class average for MIS was 75ish (a little lower, but still in the 70-range, for the final) whereas 251 is 62 this semester, when anne said usually it's about 65 my TA said the final will be MUCH harder than the mt
i regret not taking 251 earlier because in order to take 300-level accounting courses, you'll need prereq of 254, which has prereq .. to take 251 first!
so if you dont have a preference of which one to take first i'll suggest taking 251 before 237

really?! you'll be the 2nd person i see off this forum then! fyi - i went to check out the MC from anne on wed during office hours i had the green version and i found a mistake (question 8 or 9) anne said she'll look into it and update our marks you should check to see ur MC ;)

ahh, i love that class! even tho its morning.. but anne is such a great person and the class material is not that boring to me. oh great thanks for your information. im planning to find anne on wed anyways because im sure i'll have some questions regarding the MCs... the part that i lost a great portion of marks for sure. how did you do in mt?

Gar: i did better than i thought, which i'm glad the practice mt REALLY helped me but all my mistakes were silly mistakes so i'm kinda mad at myself for not having enough time double checking at the end AND the two guys next to me kept talking and was very distracting :(
raptors: if you do decide to take bus 251, try to see if you can get into "elizabeth macdonald's" class even though her classes start at 830 she is one of the best prof on campus (my TA, travis, brought a newspaper article to class one day someone went on ratemyprof and found the best/worst profs in sfu anne had the best ratings and was the only prof in the business department to be on the list .. even though they only listed 4)

i don't know about you, but after 8:30 calculus in burnaby (this semester) i am never taking another 8:30 burnaby course ever again
i guess it depends, i hate waking up early too but it's worth it - my prof is REALLY GOOD (my personal opinion) even though class average is lower than normal (62% comparing to 65%) i rather take an early class than an evening class though..

Oh right, and 237 is easy peasy. Take it with Kamal Masri, he's a cool guy. But you really don't need to go to lecture because everything (or most) is in the book. Unless they changed the book since I took it... lol.

i couldnt sell my book afterwards :@ but i got the MIS for 35 so it was worth it and my 251 text is the newest edition.. cant sell that for much cuz of the stupid online code! i HATE IT when the class MAKES US do the online crap

She's a really nice prof. She didn't give us a final, told us exactly what was on the midterm, and allowed us to bring a cheat sheet for it. I'd recommend taking the class with her if you can.
