Need creative ideas for my group presentation

edited September 2008 in General
Hey guys, I have a business class and my group is supposed to do a presentation on innovation in a business setting. The prof has instructed us to get the class as involved as we can but I can't think of any ideas other than asking them questions throughout the presentation. We are allowed a lot of leeway in terms of what we do to get the class engaged and create discussion...do you guys have any ideas I may be able to use?

whats the nature of your presentation (topic or goal)? if it has something to do with like interviews, or some kind of business-social thing, involve them, like have one of them be your guinea pig

like if it were an interview or something, make them the interviewee

Funny and interesting short stories/examples, facts, and statements like 'Does anyone know....'

Maybe also get some volunteers (can be pre-planned) to take part in something.

Pretend your class is the board of directors. Print out nice handouts and address your class as the board.

Thanks for the idea Steven, that might be doable with the topic of my presentation. We're presenting an article titled The Grassroots of Strategic Information Systems (Claudio Ciborra , 1992) so I could use the board room concept to present the article as an attempt to "sell" the board on why this approach to SIS is important for the company to adapt...great stuff!

Basically the point of the article is that when building a strategic information system (SIS), it should be developed based on the specific culture of the company as opposed to adapting pre-existing technologies. The reasoning is that if you use technology already available, the competitive advantage gained is basically eliminated once other firms imitate your system. But if a "true" SIS is developed through end-user hacking, computing and tinkering it becomes a unique innovation entrenched in the culture of the firm which no one can completely replicate unless they develop their own genuine SIS in that manner. Hope that makes sense, it's my first business class and I'm finding it very interesting.

Do a game show like Jeopardy where they can answer questions and work with a team.

Or bake cookies like what I'm doing for my presentation.

Being strict on the dress code and professional on your delivery, having something interesting to say, and smoking your competition by out-practicing them will get you an A+.

No need for gimmicks or games. Blow them away with confidence and suave instead.

That's a good point, blackhat, but when you are doing a group presentation not everyone has the same level of confidence or style. Hardcore business students usually dress the part with their suits and dressy clothes, but the average student doesn't feel the need to do that kinda stuff for school, nor are they accustomed to it. Good tips though, I try to dress sharp and be confident when I present which usually helps me get a solid mark...making the class laugh usually helps too
