OF all the major five religions of the world...

edited November 2006 in General
Hindiusm seems to be the most prejudice , since they group there worshipers into a class system

Islam seems to be composed of the most violent followers compared to the other religions

Christianity is the most commercialized religion and has followers who imposed their christian values on nonchristians the most compared to other religions. Also most christians within christianity seem the most divided of all other religions. In other words , they seem to have unneccessary diverse interpretations of christianity .

Judaism seems to composed of followers who , throughout the millineunium are either massacred or harresed for there beliefs the most by nonjews and gentiles.

Buddhism seems to compose of followers who are the most peaceful of all faithworshipers. They don't go around blowing themselves up or hijacking airplanes just because you don't agree with them. They don't go around other countries promoting their religions , or mixing their religion with politics. They don't have a class system.

Which is why I say we should do-away with religion all together.

"Religion is the opiate of the masses" - Marx

    "God is Dead" - Nietzche

    Quote :
"In the Bullshit Department, a businessman can't hold a candle to a clergyman. 'Cause I gotta tell you the truth, folks. When it comes to bullshit, big-time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims: religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told.

Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!
    But He loves you.

He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bullshit story. Holy Shit!

wat u fail to understand is that religion isnt there for God its there for humanity.. noone says u have to give ur money noones forcing u to do nothing but at least religion has taught mankind morals throughout the centuries, it has been there as a guideline on how to live a life that u can be proud about.. its one of the best disciplines out there and if religion was really all bullshit why are billions of people following a religion? is everyone stupid? if it wasnt for the morals that these religions teach, we'd all be savages

You shouldn’t judge someone by looking at who or what they worship. That is how generalizations are formed. Everyone has different views on life and that includes the religion they choose to worship. You can not criticize another religion if you do not belong to it because naturally you will disagree with it because you do not belong to it yourself.

"The evil that is in the world always comes of ignorance, and good intentions may do as much harm as malevolence, if they lack understanding. On the whole men are more good than bad; that however, isn't the real point. But they are more or less ignorant, and it is this that we call vice or virtue; the most incorrigible vice being that of an ignorance which fancies it knows everything and therefore claims for itself the right to kill. There can be no true goodness, nor true love, without the utmost clear-sightedness." - Albert Camus

Take from that what you will... ;)

    Religion is a fucken joke.

I don't know that I would call all those who are religious stupid. I would be quick to point out that they ONLY believe because they have been indocrinated as a child into believing. Take away indoctrination, and we would have far less (maybe no) religious zealots left.

And please, don't try and equate religion with morals. Religion is the most amoral ideology out there. The crusades, inquisition, WW2 (see German Proestant position during ww2), 9/11, etc.

Morality is in no-way tied to religion.

Religion is just a means of social control. "The opiate of the masses" as Marx correctly pointed out.

    Get a life!

Generalizing like that is a bit ignorant. Every organization has their worse members. Please watch the following videos by Richard Darwin, the author of "The Selfish Gene", he rocks!

    Lecture:
    Lecture (1/2) - 37:20
    Lecture (2/2) - 01:10:03

The Root of All Evil, broadcasted on BBC:
The Root of All Evil - The God Delusion (1 of 2) - 47:51
The Root of All Evil - The Virus of Faith (2 of 2) - 42:54

Indeed, Dawkins** (correct spelling) gets a lot of things right. Check out his latest book ("The God Delusion"). At the end of one of the chapters (ch. 2 I think) he hits the nail on the head. He points out that religious people are INCAPABLE of distinguishing between what IS true and what they WISH were true.

There is no rational justification for the existence of any sort of God. Further, religion is in fact harmful in that it limits thought, discussion, and exploration. As members of a religion you are spoon-fed the pablum of life.

Let's do-away with religion all together!
