I was wondering when you know what books you have to get and when you can view the course outlines?

you can get books no ^^ my best bet would be to buy it off a student who's trying to get rid of it cuz it's usually cheaper than at the sfu bookstore.
i just bought 2 books today for one class and it was like..$113 -_-
