Forgetting a girl's name

edited July 2008 in General
Well, I think I'm screwed. I met a girl and got her number and put it in my phone, but I just put the letter "J" in the name field. Not sure why, I was pretty drunk at the time. :p Anyway, I remember her enough to know that I liked her, but I am damned if I know the name. There's nobody I can ask, either. This blows. :(

Well, I might as well call and bite the bullet. I could try to slide by with a casual "hey J-dog!' or something, but that would be lame. Just gotta own up and ask. Nothing to lose, I suppose. hehe.

Here's what you do--phone her, and when she picks up (say some generic greeting like, "hey!"), tell her who you are and (right away) tell her that your buddy wouldn't believe that you met such a gorgeous girl. Then have someone else there (a friend who is a girl, preferably), hand the phone over. Have her say something like, "this is Clara, who am I speaking to?"

Then have them chat a little before handing the phone back to you while your friend mouths the name.

Because honestly, she might not hang up on you if you say that you don't remember her name.... but you will give her a lasting impression that you're a drunk playboy.

But who knows, she might be looking for one of those!

You need to social engineer her name and 3 sizes.

its probably best to say you find her really interesting and make some compliment about her to distract her when you say you forget her name

honesty works well, and it shows youre an honest person if you just admit it but include a compliment therein or joke about it

I think forgetting a girls name is the one thing worse then forgetting their birthday lol...call her from some anonymous number using a fake voice or do what Lixie said...

hmm.. i remember bumping into a guy i met through a friend at a gathering once at the mall or something.. and he's like "hey" and i said "hi" and we talked for a bit before he said "your name's anna right?" and i smiled and said.. "no it's fiona" and he looked kinda dumbfounded on the spot and replied "oh.. okay" and we continued talking with me occasionally poking fun at him for forgetting my name.. but yeah.. we just laughed it off.. =P it's not like it doesn't happen to people sometimes.. =)

i agree with the above ^ if you act sincere about caring about not knowing what her name is itll look good to her

also, using the schemes the other people listed, girls arent all stupid she might figure it out

Oh, this is perfect, I just saw an interview with Ricky Gervais when he talked about just such a situation.

Call her up, and tell her that you think you might've mispelt her name, and then ask her how to spell it.

    Bang, you have her name.

What if her name was Jill or Jane? She'll think he's an idiot for "thinking" that he misspelled her name.
