Totally Unfair

So I am down here in SoCal (its what we down here call Southern California) and today I went into a Costco. Now not only do they sell alcohol in these american Costco, but they sell them at a damn cheap price, here is a small sample of their inventory

1.75L Morgan's Spice Rum: $19.99
1.75L Jose Cuervo $19.99
1.75L Absolut $22.99
1.75L Smirnoff $19.99
1.75L Jack Daniels $19.99
1.75L Crown Royal $31.99

This is totally unfair to us Canadians since looking online at the BC Liquor store site, 1.75L of Morgans Spiced Rum is $58.

I am already bringing home 1L of Jose Cuervo from Mexico, I am going to try and get some Morgan's Spiced across too.

    I'm pretty sure you can't get a 375ml bottle of Jose Cuervo for that price in Canada.

    Yeah I was saying to Ether that the 1L bottle of Jose Cuervo I bought in Mexico cost me $10.

    They have cold beer in the grocery stores, the corner stores and the liquor stores.

    lol here we have cold beer and wine stores that charge extra for the "coldness"
    up in kamloops theres a liquor store with a gigantic beer room thats refrigerated....they need one of those here

    Compare to Canada, stuff in the US tends to be cheaper for some reason. Oh and JayDub, maybe you know this already, however I believed that you have a limit on the amount of alcohol you can bring back before they start charging duty or tax.

    I know ;) but I am going to try and get it across and if they make me pay duty I will just throw it away as it only costs $20.

    As for being lax on checking ID I don't know I as I just get my father to pay for it.

    well i dunno bout alcohol specifically but they usually dont charge taxes when ur coming back to Canada if the amount you spent is around 100 per person (usually for daytrips), and it usually depends on the mood of the guy too. Since ur spendin more than a day there, i aint sure if they wud ask u how much u spent and go thru ur receipts (most likely not) so u shud be good crossing the border with a couple of bottles. My cuzins bring back johnny walker every time they cross the border so u shud have no problem with a single bottle.
    O ya aint from kamloops just visit relatives there alot.

    thats a common misconception...wait til you move out of your parents place and get a 600 dollar bill from MSP canada asking you why you havent been paying your dues and that theyre going to sue you...

    if you dont have coverage they FORCE you to enroll and pay the dues...regardless if you use it or not

    you can file for premium assistance if you dont make enough money to pay but the idiots will lose your papers like three times over and send it to collections in the mean time (my experience)

    its only really free if youre a child ;)

    It is better to call our Health Care system a Socialized Health Care system. We pay a fixed amount each month and we will be guaranteed treatment if we are ill or in some emergency situation. I full heartedly believed that this is much better than the American's system, where they would only treat you if you have insurance or money. It is just sickening what the Americans do to their poor. There was once a story where a women was left for dead because her family lacked insurance.

    yeah i know, i got a bill for 2006 saying I owe them 540 dollars because I didn't submit some form showing i only made 3000 dollars in 2006, haha.

    Pain in the ass getting it sorted out.

    i think it was make less than 20k and its covered by government.

    you know what, if its going to be socialized its ironic they exclude dental/ortho/vision, i would have no problem paying dues if they gave you the things that really matter most and are the most commonly occuring of issues...ive spent so much money out of pocket paying for dental etc...even ireland has like free ortho, its crazy how it works out

    we are definitely better off than the american health care system which is a disaster based on greed, but canada follows suit with the exclusion of dental/ortho/vision...

    i remember calling them the first time i got the notice and i was like why are you threatening to sue me, instead of asking me to pay first? and the woman says "it doesnt matter you better pay", this was a government employee and not a creditor which was the part that blew me away, then i started crying and she said i could kill out some form blah blah blah...this was when i was working a different job and had no money to spend on crap like that

    haha yeah first notice i ever got about it said "something something owe us money, something credit agency after you, blah blah third notice we've sent"

    the FUNNIER part is, they said they must have had the wrong address or a different address, but how did they GET the address they sent the final warning to?

    i thought well maybe they had go it from me filing my taxes...so if they were able to get my new address which they supposedly didnt have from my taxes, why didnt they do so on the second or third warning they supposedly sent out?

    Not even close to Europe. Bottles of wine for under 1 Euro in some countries, I miss it so much.

    The 1 euro bottles are similar to wine like Yellow Tail over here...so decent. Not complaining at all.
    I got bottles of Cognac for 20 euro which is insane!
