I took the equivalent course at Langara a couple years ago and you don't really have to be a math whiz to do well. I'm not great at math and I found it to be a really interesting and useful course because it shows how people understand mathematics when they are learning it.
Of course, it might be a whole different deal at SFU, so I'm sure someone else can give you some more tips.
Hi, Math 190 is a great foundational course. I did it in my first year in the education program at SFU. Although I don't remember which professor I had teaching, Im sure any professor would teach the class just as well. It is based on high school math but with a more teaching oriented approach and is easy if you did well in Math 12 (its the same just a little more in depth).
tip: IF you do end up taking it, try to explain the things you learn to a friend, it will make a lot more sense.
