Assignments assigned late

I don't understand how profs and TAs expect students to hand in something the next morning when they assign it at 6-7pm the previous night. And some students only check email before they go to bed or in the morning so that wouldn't leave them much time to do the work.

    I'm sure theres more to the story than that...I wouldn't stand for that because what if you are gone out that weekend, it's unreasonable to say the least
