english requirement - eng102, 104, or 199??
Hi all,
I've got 2 questions regarding the english requirement for business admin.
1. I'm wondering among the three english courses, which one would be the easiest?
I've already done 101, and tried taking phil101 but didn't really like it.
2. other than 101, which is the easiest among the courses below?
easy as in the english knowledge straight out of high school will be enough for the course.
ENGL 101W-3, ENGL 102W-3, ENGL 103W-3, ENGL 104W-3, ENGL 105W-3, ENGL 199W-3, PHIL XX1-3, PHIL 100W-3, PHIL 120W-3
Thanks!

I'm taking Eng 199 this semester (Distance Ed). It's more work in terms of writing, but very basic concepts.
at such a low level, take what interests you...they're probalby all easy
from my understanding the course content changes depending on the prof...so it's best to look at the course outlines for the upcoming semester to see what it's going to be about and what books you'll have to read. like affinity said, they're intro courses and they're probably at the same level of easiness so better to be reading books that interest you.
i just want to add that i'd stay away from phil courses. so so boring.
(I also have the textbook if you want, it's only $30! Good deal for a course, and re-usable / re-sellable)
I took ENGL105, it was easy. Then again, it was really retarded because we had a sessional prof and he was from the States. An American teaching Canadian literature...?
(Custom courseware, I advise not to take CCW classes cuz u can sell that shit)
I'm taking ENGL102 w/ T. Alkan and She's a good prof. Very informative. Pretty interesting... for poetry. So far it's quite easy.
(I didn't bother buying the poetry book because poems are internet searchable anyways so it's fine)
ENGL199 is a pain, I heard. Essays every week, so that's like what, 12 essays? Sucks to be them =P
So I took 3 ENGL, using 2 for my B-Hum credits, 1 for W credit, and my next W credit will be the Business English I hafta take in 3rd year.
also phil xx1 was easy breezy too. very basic concepts and minimal work.
For phil xx1, I heard that the average was always very low, is that true?
which prof. did you guys take the course with?
Is J.Macintosh easy?
how's the course like in terms of work load? (# of papers? midterms?)
For Eng199, how's the course like? It caught my attention since it has no finals and midterms, I'm not really sure.
Some more descriptions about the courses will be great.
Thanks again.
I'm taking in Distance Ed, and it's really not that bad.
Vonnie, I probably wouldn't be taking it if there were essays every week! We have 5 papers (but all only 800-1200 words), and about one online exercise every week (which is usually only a discussion about the topic of the week).
There is a midterm, but no final.
no papers. 1 midterm 1 final.
More logical then Writing kinda stuff.
The average was the usual High C Low B... about 65%?
That's a pretty average average lol.
there were no papers, there was one very minor assignment (completion marks only), and 2 midterms and a final (all mc). tutorials weren't mandatory (but were very helpful), but i heard now they've eliminated tutorials (i'm not sure though).
