posting habits..

before you decide to comment on a thread..
do you:

read other ppl's post (beside the poster) before you comment?
post then read other comments?
post then don't bother reading other ppl's comment?

and

do you post whatever comes up in your mind?
or take some time to think then come back and post?

Like imelting said, if it's a short thread, I read it first.
If there's lots of different answers, I usually post what I think after I read the OP's message, then go back and read them.

I don't leave to think about it first, I just go at it lol.

i usually read the whole thread then post. if i find that someone has posted while their head was up their ass, i reply to that post first. I also try to piss of any trolls

For me, it mostly depends on the topic, not the length. I also take into account who has posted. Anyways, if it's an interesting topic, I try to read almost everyone's post and take his/her posts into consideration before posting my ideas.

If it's a moderately interesting topic, I usually read a few posts, and if they don't capture my interest, I don't bother posting; if they are interesting, I will post.

If it's a thread that looks to be on a stupid topic, I won't bother looking at it.

Quite often I'll play devil's advocate simply in order to stimulate discussion. Mind you, however, that talksfu.ca is probably the only forum I go on on a relatively consistent basis. Usually I do try to put some thought into my posts but I usually don't think and then come back, since I think quite fast :shade:

I read most comments and I think about what I want to comment before I actually post.

I usually do the same thing as user Shi2 does.

If it is a short thread, I tends to read everyone's comment before posting. That way, I wouldn't repeat what other people may have contributed.

Also, I always read the first post (the one that started the thread) fully.

I usually read other people's comments first unless the thread is really long.

I don't always post right away for some reason. Take this thread for example, I could probably have said this yesterday.. but I didn't and I have no real explanation. Laziness maybe?

for me.. i usually try to read everyone's comments.. if i can't do that in one session... i go back to it later.. most of the time i just post right away.. unless my brain is not functioning or that i feel the question requires some thought.. but yes laziness is also somewhere in there too.. =P

It depends on how many pages the thread is and how long people's responses are.

If it is a topic that i am interested in, i will most likely read everything.

Sometimes, just for fun, i'll post with only reading the first person's original post.

if it's reasonably short i read every single response, and my post would consists of a response to OP as well as responses to all previous responses that I feel should be addressed. If it's a long topic then I read the first and last pages of responses, and then post.

Depends. If there are lots of posts (more than a page) I usually won't read them all. Maybe the first couple, but only if I'm interested. In this case, I haven't read any other posts, but that's because it's not completely relevant. You asked a question that is unique to everyone, so it doesn't matter if my response is identical to anyone else's. If you're asking for an answer to a problem, or a discussion, then it helps to know what other people are saying.

Sometimes I'll go and read other people's comments afterwards. This usually occurs if I had a lot to say about the original post and wanted to write before I forgot, and then was curious what other people said.

I usually, if not always, post what's on my mind. Lately I've been making a ridiculous number of grammatical (not spelling) errors (usually missing words, or a funny word in place of another), so I've been trying to re-read my posts. I usually also add other stuff I forgot then. But I never stop and think about what I'm going to write before I begin writing. If I had to do that, then I probably wouldn't say anything at all.

This post isn't edited either, in the interest of time and sleep. Oh, and because it isn't a particularly important or opinionated post where I need to convey myself especially clearly (to avoid hurting feelings or misrepresenting myself).

Edit: Damn it. I started re-reading it after I posted it to make sure I didn't screw anything up horribly since I actually ended up taking the time to write a long post. But, since I said I wasn't going to edit it, I am refraining from doing so (just appending worthless crap now).
