Midterms in Distance Ed Courses

edited February 2008 in General
I think its kind of fun finally getting to see whos in your class....at my last one I was like hey those two guys are cute, and hey I coulda been tutorial friends with this girl.

Also, hey I bet thats the class keener, and I bet that person would be the one who makes overly redundant remarks of other peoples ideas to participation marks.

Didn't everyone learn HTML stuff in high school? I know it was mandatory for us to have IT class.

    easy, stupid easy.

EricJ & randomuser: see you tomorrow. I'll be sitting up front (puffy jacket, tuque, glasses)

I think i'm ready for it unless he tests us on the virtues of each graphics format and how pages should be laid out. If he tests us on just code, i'll be fine.

btw the Python part is not easier

Yeah, I hope there is nothing outrageously weird that I don't know on there. Haven't had time to try to look for some sample exams though, as I have a bunch of other stuff to do...

CMPT 165 is a freaking joke of a class. By far the easiest class I have ever done. If you think the first part is hard then you are going to be lost at Python although Python is relatively easy to anything in the world.

I took this class a year ago and I remember questions on the midterm where like, "find 8 invalid xhtml tags in this section of code" or "write the xhtml for this page".

i dont find the concepts as hard as the graphical design components hard

trying to make whats in your head match what you see on the screen is hard, unless you have hours and hours to go through and test tags to know how they work, maybe its easy for you

ive seen the practice midterms and they seem easy, but the last two assignments ive had to do i found difficult

it seems, to me anyway, that python is more logical than graphic design, something i can grasp easier, im not really all that creative
  • edited February 2008
Python is probably the easiest to understand/use language I have seen (though I still don't like it much)
Either way, I'll have a much easier time with that part of the course since it requires less creativity :)

no i was the guy who called that guy a rapist

i was asking people for a pen and calculus help

    Where were you sitting?
  • edited February 2008
Well that was slightly harder than I expected, but not bad. I know a few questions on the multiple choice got me though, they were not very nice, and I didn't bother to prepare a cheat sheet (nor study) which may possibly have gotten me a couple of extra marks
  • edited February 2008
that multiple choice was worded rather poorly and im english as a first language

and the last one, i could only find two errors in the html :| i had to guess at the other two, i guessed the abbr html was depricated and something else
  • edited February 2008
    It's all about the < BLINK> .. really.

    edit: wow, that actually works.

i guessed that title for abbr should have been declared in CSS

the last error was so blatently obvious that if you didn't get it, you really should not be taking the course
  • edited February 2008
randomuser: Image tag isn't closed, Body tag isn't closed, alignment for H2 is incorrectly done (I also wrote that one of the abbr tags was wrong due to lack of the title being included in there, but I'm pretty sure I'm incorect in this one)

It took me forever to even find any errors..

    edited February 2008
for the error question, if we got 1 wrong, do we lose all 12 marks?
  • edited February 2008
That would be pretty dumb, I highly doubt it!! (Hope not....)
  • edited February 2008
i caught the missing body and p tags as I mentioned those two were blatantly obvious...i didnt notice the image tag wasnt closed, i was sure it was for some reason, maybe it was because i was focusing on the alt part being there

the abbr tag just threw me off...when i dont know what the tag does how am i supposed to know how its used i thought that was a cheap shot on their part

Hey IVT, I was sitting on the couch right beside you, but I do not remember who was sitting on the couch you were on. If you are going to the meetup I guess I will see you there and then remember.
