2400$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh baby, but my income was too high that I no longer qualify for gst rebate cheques

I used ufile, with a student code from cfs website which made it free to file, took me not even 15 mins to do it all.

ITS CHRISTMAS

    Nice, congrats I guess.

Where does one get there T220A2 or whatever they are called?

Wow you don't qualify for it? I guess you make over 36000 or whatever it is haha. I made a RRSP contribution so I can get the GST credit.

I'm waiting for my SFU T4 slip and T3 from TD, so I probably won't be able to do it until end of March - I expect around 2100 back according to my calculations.

It's on goSFU now, so login and on the home page you should find a link to the form (just search the page); under Finances I believe.

    Sweet, got that printed out.

Don't we get money back or something for our books?

I am still waiting for my T4 I believe. Unless it got sent to my parents house which I don't know, but what is a T3 for? I have TD and I have my RRSPs at another bank.

2400? holy crap how much did you make, lol

Don't know what is there to be happy about. It means you were over taxed by 2400 during the year.

I think there's an allowance for books you calculate automatically (i.e. not the actual amount of your books) see here

A T3 is for capital gains/losses (I use TD Waterhouse Discount Brokerage).

It also occured to me that the tuition amount on the T220...(or whatever it is) does not include the U-Pass fee of $98/semester, which is part of the federal transit pass tax credit here, so I would put the costs of the U-Passes (3) as an additional tax credit, correct?

Nice, so then for textbooks I am able to claim eight months at $65 for a nice total of $520 which is about what I pay for one semesters worth of books.

Lets just say I made more than 2x allowed to be eligible for the GST credit cheques, and had lots and lots of stuff to write off like medical expenses and tuition etc

Half of my refund is going to finally pay off my mastercard which Ive had a balance on for like 9 months. Between rent downtown and my lifestyle Ive been living a bit too large

    Edit:
For anyone who wants to file their own taxes and the only things you have are your T2202A and or T4 id file them yourself, with netfile, and ufile, and for free with the code on the CFS website. I think theres some other sites too that offer free returns if you make under 20k or something...I cant remember the one I used last year.

well i made about 13k and i only get 300 dollars back, lol

Finally got my T4 today, they mailed it to the wrong address so it took a while to find me. Turns out I made 24,000 last year. Not bad for not having a job.

Now I must wait to find out how much I actually get back.

That's true. In other words, you let the government "borrow" your money interest free over the year.

Fill out form T1213 if you want your money back every take-home pay.
