Best SFU campus to study?

I normally do my studying at Burnaby campus cuz the library opens late and the campus never closes (if i plan staying REEEEALLLY late).

I go to Harbour Center occasionally on weekends, and it's quite nice there. The bad thing is it only opens until 5PM on sat/sun.

I'm just wondering about the Surrey campus...any good? Can you study there late-ish (after the library closes)? Does the campus lock up?

    ive always liked studying at sfu burnaby because i found some cool, uninterrupted spots; no clue on surrey or downtown

    UBC is also a good place to study too

    Yeah Burnaby is good...jus wondered about Surrey cuz it's slightly more convenient for me

    The Surrey library is good... at least it's a lot CLEANER than the Burnaby library. It's quiet most of the time too, but not dead silent. It's pretty much the same as Burnaby but cleaner and more comfortable (imo)--they have big tables, small units, a silent study room, "team" rooms. Plus they have swivel chairs!! There's also some rooms and tables around the rest of the campus that are okay if you don't get distracted by people walking by. Too bad I live too far from Surrey to go there on a regular basis.

    I like to change the study environment at times. The campus is a neutral place to study with other students or randomly bump into them. Bennett Library is good since those computers have write access to the student share drives. The magazine and newspaper section on the 6th floor is quite a place to take a reading break. Many major newspapers and magazines like Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Forbes & Fortune magazine are available to read. AQ is open 24 hours from what I've been told.

    For me, it's harder to concentrate at home because of all the distractions. It's not only because the computer and the TV, but also because it's easy for me to go on breaks when I feel like I'm hungry or take a nap when I think I'm tired. I wish I could focus at home... it beats taking the bus to school... good thing I only live 10 minutes away from Burnaby campus.

    exactly, home = entertainment + various perks such as food and other goodies

    Yes, and I drink one or two of these as well. Study break as in 5 to 10 minutes away from studying.

    These are the hours for the Surrey Library:

    SPRING SEMESTER HOURS
    Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 9:00pm
    Friday: 8:00am - 6:00pm
    Saturday: 10:00am - 5:00pm
    Sunday & Holidays: Closed

    I also found out SFU Surrey isn't a good place to go after 9pm. O well, I guess it's Burnaby for me!

    I wish I could focus at home... it beats taking the bus to school... good thing I only live 10 minutes away from Burnaby campus.
    You should focus on trying to focus at home.

    I'm in the Surrey campus and always study there till really late (1 am late). Lots of places to study if you know where to look and we have security 24/7. However, the only down side to it is the echo. I study in the hall and I can hear people talking 2 floors down. Occasionally, we have janitors vacuuming that sounds like a Hummer doing a burnout.

    Other then that, it's quite great.

    EDIT: By the way, if you are planning on studying at the Surrey campus, I'll give a list of rooms/places you can study at if you need it.

    Oh, I was jus looking at the Campus hours and it dint seem to be open past the library/mall hours...I'm obviously wrong. Hehe.

    SO.....can u fill me in? I'm the type of person that stays at the Burnaby Campus till...1-2AM to study...(my geography lab is 24hrs)

    I'd like to try going to Surrey...its slightly convenient for me.

    Yeah sure give me the list of rooms to study in! That's awesome thanks!! (Do I need to book them or jus drop in?)

    You know, two years at SFU and I have yet to be at SFU slurrey or the Harbour Centre.

    Some rooms you do have to book, but most you can just drop in.

    Room 4020 is quite nice, but occasionally people play Magic cards there and can be a slight distraction. On the 4th floor at the other end of the campus (right of the elevator) is a nice isolated place to study as well. Also, many of the rooms used for tutorials are accessible as well.

    Haha, no thanks, I am going to keep avoiding it like the plauge for the next two years. I mean, I am paying to live on Rez, why do I want to take a bus to another campus.

    i am up at SFU Burnaby all the time, usually till 10 or 11pm. speaking of which i was in my office on sunday (yes, i know a SUNDAY) till around 1am. i finally came out of my hole and realized I was locked inside the business lounge lol.
    i ended up escaping through this random hallway, which had a lot of doors that would lock if i shut it behind me, so i used my textbooks as door stoppers. when i finally found an exit where the door was actually unlocked, I had to go back and grab all my books...

    i realized an easier way to get outta there was to just call security and tell them to open the effin' door for me. =D

    oh and like JayDub, never been to SFU surrey. have been to SFU Harbour Centre...nothing special. i love SFU Segal's building right across the street, but i feel so out of place there hah
