Drop this course or not? Help!!
I'm in Applied Science and I'm taking math 151 this semester. I took a look at last fall's midterm paper and I could get 80% on it when I tried... but when i took my prof's midterm, i only got 45%......... His lectures are really confusing... I wanna have a chat with him, but i cant find him... do you guys think i should drop this and take math 157 instead(maybe transfer to arts later)?
Comments
last semester, midterm one i got around the same mark (< 50% for sure) i ended it with a C
this semester, math 152 midterm one, 37% and i'm not planning to drop
Joking
This isn't something that I or anyone on the forum can answer. If you're worried about having good grades and if you don't think you'll redeem yourself with the final exam, then yes, do drop it.
If you, however, are just worried about passing and if you think you can pull yourself together and study hard enough for the rest of the semester to pass, then you shouldn't drop the course.
E-mail the professor and ask him if the final will be easier, how you can prepare, what else you can do, etc.
anyhow if the class avg is 55% then you still passed. the class avg is usually a b-/c+ depending on the prof. so look at where you are in terms of this.
That is, however, only if you want to go on to post-graduate studies.
My midterm marks were 41(+8)% and 37%, and my overall mark was a D
Unless you give it some serious effort you might just end up with the same thing and have to retake it...
Unless you're willing to really put a lot of effort into it (3+ hours at least a day) then drop it. The first midterm deals with the easiest stuff in calculus, and it'll only get harder and also builds on preceding materials.
If you aren't dropping it, the professor will probably scale the grades. Also, the final was pretty difficult and very time constrained. So be careful.
EDIT: Oh you already dropped it. Maybe I should read the entire thread next time.
