    I'M STUCK ON CAMPUS :(
  • edited February 2008
What's the situation up on campus? Is it snowing hard?
  • edited February 2008
Snowing REALLY hard, and LOTS of ppl still on campus jsut wandering around cause they're not letting down the hill (not even cars)
  • edited February 2008
It is snowing as hard as last Tuesday, maybe worse. The traffic is fuc*ed and I heard there are a couple of traffic accidents already. Also, I have seen few people hiking down the mountain already.

This is why I feel bad about living in Rez sometimes...

Sorry to hear that. Other than flying you off the mountain or controlling the weather, anything I can do to help?

Haha, oh I don't know... no news yet I'm just in the AQ surrounded by lots of other stranded people.

I highly doubt the snow will stop any time soon. Hell, even those wth cars are "advised" not to drive.

SFU should seriously get a few of these.

    Wow
    Burnaby Campus Update

As of 4:45 pm, weather conditions on the Burnaby Campus are extreme.

Evening classes at the Burnaby Campus are cancelled. Students at Harbour Centre should call 778-782-5029 to confirm whether their evening classes will run. Surrey Campus is open.

Translink service to the Burnaby campus is currently not running. Driving conditions are treacherous, and there are multiple vehicle accidents on the approaches to Burnaby Mountain. The University recommends that you stay put and do not attempt to drive until conditions improve.

The dining facilities on the Burnaby Campus that will remain open until 11 pm are the Residence Dining Hall and the Rennaissance Coffee shop near the ASSC1 atrium in the AQ.

Conditions will be reassessed and updates will be posted here at approximatly 6:20 pm. Driving is currenlty strongly discouraged on Burnaby Mountain. Please check the SFU Road Conditions page at http://www.sfu.ca/security/sfuroadconditions/, or call the SFU Road Conditions phone line at 604-444-4929.

Constant traffic updates can be heard on radio station AM730. Traffic updates also run every 10 minutes on CXKWX AM1130 (“on the ones”) and CKNW AM980 (“on the fours”). And for winter safety and driving advice, see http://www.sfu.ca/pamr/snow/

This happens every single year. The weather was perfectly fine today...

    [sarcasm]

I just throught of a fast way to get off the hill. Grab a few dining hall trays and slide down the mountain.

uhh... there is a big left turn after the Hastings intersection. I think you would fly off the road.

It would be cool if they made a giant quarter pipe-like banked turn using the snow.

I was thinking about going down Gaglardi Way.

Kind of like a half-pipe on Cypress? I advocate that we should either cut a path/ trail through the woods or get the snow coaches.

Ok, fine you got me. However, you can still break on a plastic tray.

Also, I just throught of another idea. Bring a swimming pool floats like this...

and slide down. There are little friction on this thing and I have seen these things in action.

Still snowing like Whistler up here, snow plowing crew no where to be found, roads covered in snow. Unless they can clear and salt the road by tomorrow morning, don't expect school tomorrow.
  • edited February 2008
Nice to see that you guys are home

I'm still up here because they aren't letting anyone out.. and judging by the webcam, it's gonna be a looong wait to get anywhere
  • edited February 2008
