Best Condoms?

edited February 2008 in General
What are the best condoms.
So far I find the durex Maximum and trojan twisted pleasure to be best..
The warming lubricants do nothing to me, and any lifestyle ones are crap.

I heard some japanese ones are supposed to be really good, god knows where to buy them though, lol. maybe they in the stores and i'm just blind

I'm using Durex extra sensitive right now. But my gf prefers no condom.
  • edited January 2008
i think everyone prefers no condom, haha.
my gf won't go on birth control though, i duno why. Hell I'd still use condoms even if she was on it, but I wouldn't worry as much, haha.

HAHA. Having sex before marriage is against her religion as well, but she's still doing it.
    Hm? Haha.

I personally wouldn't go on birth control as well because you don't know how it'll fuck up your system for later when you DO decide to get pregnant.

I mean, would guys want to take a pill that makes them not produce sperm?

Still sounds kinda sketch to me, no matter how many tests are done and how many ppl have taken it...

I honestly can't tell the difference between brands.

Well, you could make that argument for anything. The fact is that there's not been one recorded case of prolonged sterility in the entire history of female birth control. That's a little paranoid. :p It's like avoiding Asprin because you're afraid it might not wear off and you'll never be able to feel your face again.

As to male birth control, it's on its way, though personally I think it'll just lead to more pregnancies. Guys will lie about having taken their pill if they're on the verge of getting laid, plus guys won't be as studious about taking a pill regularly.

Haha, that's a good arguement. But when you're in pain, you'd take a pill to stop the pain, and even if it doesn't stop working, you just won't feel pain again, which is a pretty good toss hahaa.

As for BC pills, it's different because you're already healthy, and you're taking something to change that. You're not getting healthier by doing it, you're just playing around with you body. So I still think it's different :)

there are doctors that actually encourage girls to take BC pills even though they're not sexually active.. and it's to reduce ovulation and thereby reduce the chance of getting ovarian cancer.. o.O" now i don't know if that's true or not but some thing just doesn't sit right with me when girls aren't menstruating when they're supposed to.. =\ like vonnie said you're just playing around with your body.. stopping it from doing what it's supposed to do..

i don't know what the long term effects are from stopping ovulation and the menstruating cycle.. but i'm pretty certain that there's going to be side effects.. some of which could be permanent.. =(

It's true, yeah. There's no medical benefit to mentruation, over and above the fact that it keeps you able to become pregnant. If you don't want to get pregnant, then having a period is a useless exorcise.

And again, birth control has been in use for going on half a century now. You're free to distrust it if you want to, but I just don't think it's reasonable to say that there could be permanent damage done when not one such case has ever been reported. As vonnie pointed out, birth control has been shown to have various health benefits over and above actually stopping pregnancy.

It's easy for you guys to say since you don't hafta get pregnant later on in life. Haha... (unlike that Arnold Schwarzenegger movie). When a male sperm control pill comes out, you can tell me if you're willing to try it, and if you do, if you like it or not :)

When I went to my doctor about going on the pill I asked him if there would be any side effects in terms of pregnancy in the future...he suggested to use it for a maximum of five years, because he has seen a negative correlation of the pill/fertility with his patients. He also said it's not fact, but he was being completely objective and it was just a recommendation. That scared me off right away. Condoms or nothing for me.
  • edited January 2008
^ yup.. i heard that from my doctor as well.. like i said.. i don't know if the long term effects could be permanent.. but there not being one reported case doesn't mean there isn't the possibility of having a permanent side effect.. all i'm saying if it isn't a pressing issue don't rely on BC pills so much when there are other ways to avoid pregnancy..

I just wanted to know what condoms are good... but instead i get a birth control pill debate... haha :p

"The SHEERLON Difference. All OKAMOTO condoms are made of SHEERLON, an advanced material so strong and durable, it can be made much thinner than ordinary latex condoms. SHEERLON has a silkier, more natural feel, much like skin itself and is the trademark for an exclusive latex compound made by OKAMOTO" -- http://asp.okamoto-condoms.com.sg

Does this mean it's still latex? HAHA.

What?? My doctor never informed me of such a thing!

So if you're on it for more than 5 years, you could have negative effects in regards to your fertility?? wtf.

Im on BC and have been for about 5 years now (I wasnt sexually active though when i started taking it). Ive been wondering about BC for a bit now....i wonder if girls that are on it should go off it for a bit and then back on?? Does anyone know? Anyone have any links on this??

I use condoms too though. I would rather be doubly safe rather than risk getting pregnant at my age.

That's what my Doctor said, but I only got one opinion and I didn't go elsewhere.
It probably depends on genetics as well, but my Aunt was on birth control for just over 5 years. She's the only one in the family who was on the pill, and all of my mom's sisters have gotten pregnant super quickly (it's really, really scary and something I totally wish wasn't in the genes). But she had a hell of a time getting pregnant, and also had three miscarriages. Luckily she had a baby girl, but even in that birth there were quite a few problems. I'm only forming an opinion without any actual proof, but she even believes that it's probably related to the pill.
I'd rather have a child at my age from unprotected sex than no child at all. Thank God for condoms.

"The other more insidious problem with the Pill is the undetectable effect it can have on the cervical crypts within the cervix. These channels produce the healthy, slippery cervical fluid necessary for conception to occur. The Pill often destroys the cells that line the channels, preventing a woman from producing the wet cervical fluid, which allows the sperm to swim through the cervix around ovulation. Often a woman's body will be able to regenerate the destroyed cells, but if not, she may need to resort to intrauterine insemination (IUI) in order to bypass the "biological gate" which is preventing the sperm from reaching their prized destination of the egg"

So, I'm never going to go on the Pill. =P

the best condom is to get a safeway plastic bag, wrap it around your jimmy and put a rubberband around it.

whomever was allergic to latex, i read up on the sagami condoms, its latex free, maybe somethin to look into, some new compound, thinner than regular latex rubbers too

All dick jokes aside, I had this problem. Took me a while to find a brand/size that would stay put without being really uncomfortably tight at the band. Why they don't talk about the vast differences between condoms in sex ed, I'll never understand. If my penis turned purple and fell off, I woulda sued the school district! =P

HAHAHA. Wow, I've never heard of that! Poor boys :)
How come nobody claims they're a virgin?
