Question for the guys and girls

edited January 2008 in General
If you buy a girl a drink at a bar whom you do not know, what do you expect?

If they arent interested are they supposed to send the drink back or can we keep it as a nice gesture?

And girls what have you done in the past in this situation, I always kept the drink even if I wasnt interested, why should forcing rejection be my job, I think a smile suffices

I have always accepted the drink, and then made up some excuse as to why i couldnt stand there and chit chat with him, such as:

"Thanks. I have to go to the bathroom."
"Thanks. I have to go find my friends now."
    "Thanks. Oh there's my bf!"
    "Thanks. Bye!"

most of the guys who buy me drinks are mutual friends.. or a friend of a friend's so all in all.. things don't usually get as ugly as that.. but if it was some random guy.. yes i would take the drink (as long as it's something i like or feeling for) and if i ever got into a situation like yours.. i would've punched the daylights out of him even though i'll probably complain about the ugly bruise afterwards.. but yup totally worth it.. =D

If he buys the drink and sends it over, the drink is bought and that's that. If he comes over and offers to buy you a drink, and you're not interested, you're obligated to turn it down. If you let him spend money on you while having no intention of continuing to talk to him, that's just bitchy.

But again, if the drink is already bought then that's that. Drink up. :)

Ugh, what a jerk. Not cool when that happens. I would have just yelled as loud as i could and it would have drawn attention from everyone else around.

And then i would have thrown the drink at him. :)

Haha.. I wouldn't know. Never happened... because I don't go clubbing.

I don't go to clubbing often but one time I was at this club called A******S, this girl came up to me and asked me to buy a drink for her....and I just say "sorry, but I am just busy right now" and then she just walked away from me and disappeared into the crowd. In conclusion, I think if a guy buys a girl a drink then that means a guy wants to get down with the girl obviously. and if she accepts the drink then she is obligated to return a favor to the guy.

If I send a drink over to a girl, it will be some girl drink. Keep that shit, like I am going to be caught finishing it off myself. Pff...
