tattoos

edited February 2009 in General
question 1- Do you find tattoos attractive? What kind? (little ones, full body, etc)

question 2 - Do you have any tattoos?

I think they're hot, why I don't know. I see a woman with a big one on her and I think it's hot. however, if it starts going on the face and takes up 90% of the body I get turned off, lol. My girlfriend has one on her foot... hardly ever see it, so kinda useless, lol.

I got one on my right arm, eagle head with feathers. Probably add to it in the summer.

    On guys:

Never above or on the neck
on the arms but not below the elbow
not on the chest, but back is fine
    not below the waist

also guys with tattoos of women without clothing = bad idea!

how about on the inner arm? i'm planning to get a scripture inked onto the inside of my bicep

    tat01.jpg

that area, and not that stupid tattoo.

ps. guaranteed my arm looks better than that. then even better if i plan on getting inked there.

I am getting upon finishing Phase II training an air force eagle on the upper right arm. Nothing big, just something that's me.
  • edited January 2008
scripture isnt too bad in that area, i dont like it when guys have tattoos all over their arms and wear wife beaters in addition to that

ive dated people whove had tattoos in places i just couldnt get over, or the tattoos themselves

It depends, I like certain tattoos on guys. Not big ones, I hate the full arm ones or huge ones on their back.

I like normal ones on the bicep.

My bf has 6 tattoos. I like 3 of them, the others i hate.

I have no tattoos. But if i got one, it would small and would be on my hip (how original, yes i know blah blah blah). But it would be so cutesy!

Tattoo(s) or Tat(s), on women or men, are great if they are artistic and tasteful. If they lack definition or are cartoonish; then it becomes a question of maturity of the person who is wearing the tattoo(s). However, if the Tat(s) are superbly done and are works of art; they tend to be reflections of one's thoughtful taste and style. Some artist are masters of inking the body. Should the day come where I would like to get one; it is my hope that I get a full body jacket done by a master of the art from Japan.

Note: take the time to get some history about Body Augmentation in Ink (Tattooing) before you get one. Place something on your body that you will never regret or take off by laser surgery. I am sure you will find it fascinating and fun to find out the differences from around the world and why people ink their bodies from head to toes.

    Cheers.

Hm.. I'm not too big on tattoos for myself. Always because of the "what would it look like when I'm old?" thing?

Anyway, probably just me but I really like CLEAN bodies on guys. No backhair, no chesthair etc. Tattoos? Well, something small on the shoulder blade would be nice for guys. Nothing too big or drastic.

I would only get one - it would be on my belly and up-side-down. It would say "I am stupid". So that when I get old, fat, ugly and my memory starts fading and I look down and see a tattoo, I would think to myself "What was I thinking getting that uh???" and then I'd read the answer.

My problem with this threat is the fact that some people are talking about tattoos like they are pieces of drawings by 10 year old kids :P

I have a tattoo and I love it...
I guess everyone has the right to see a tattoo for what it symbolizes for them, but personally I believe that tats are pieces of art...

edit: I just realized that I have a picture of my tat on the profile pic up there :P

I've always had reservations about tattoos.

Firstly, because the entire purpose of getting a tattoo is ruined. Before, one would get a tattoo to stand out or to differ or to express originality. Now, no matter how original you think the design is, you can go join the 1000+ other guys or gals who have similar designs. How many guys have tattoos affiliating them to a religion? Chinese characters? How many gals are indelibly marked with the "tramp stamp"? Ask yourself these things and then think about originality, let alone art.

Secondly, people change and so do tastes. Maybe you'll find a better design in the future that could go on the part of your body that's already tattooed. Maybe your personality will change completely, but the tattoo will be there. Maybe you'll just regret getting one, but there won't be a thing you could do about it (because even the best type of tattoo-removal surgery still leaves marks). Ever watch that scene from "21 Grams" where Benicio del Toro's character sticks a hot knife into his crucifix tattoo because he came to believe that God had abandoned him? That was pretty fucked up.

Thirdly, as vonnie said, what will it look like when I'm old? Colours and inks fade; skin gets wrinkly; parts of your body stretch (e.g. arms, back, etc.) because of exercise. Tattoos will have to change along with your skin. Unfortunately, they don't.

haha a friend of mine, when he was 18, dated a 13 year old... yeah they had sex... so isn't that technically whatever the canadian law for rape is? lol
he's moved up in the world now though, 22 dating 17. lol

well, except you, cuz i'd assume you'd have sex with a 12 year old if you could. haha

  • edited January 2008
damn i'd kill for tweenty six year olds

anyways im thinking about getting my chinese name written on spine where the back/shoulder muscles are and before the neck so its concealed still if i wear a shirt, not a fan of big flashy tatoos
  • edited January 2008
im thinking of getting my ojibway name under my current tattoo, it would go to just above my elbow. Its just weird symbols, probably 5 or 6, depending on what name I get. I gotta go through a ritual to get it. Gotta put fruit and tobacco at the base of a tree and the spiritual guy dreams my name, then tells me. lol least i think thats what it is, lol. im only 1/4, so dont know everything exactly

well i got another tattoo today, haha.
a sun behind the eagle I already have... it was more painful this time, haha.

I just re-read this whole thread....

LOL @ that no_one_cares guy....what the hell happened to him? Was he banned or something? I kinda miss his posts :(

i used to think tattoos were cool when i was younger.. now i kind of grew that phase and realized their rather pointless.. no offence to anyone whose got them
even worse when it comes to girls, how many of them have that tribal or w/e u want to call it random textures on their lower back... so typical
  • edited April 2008
I have never been a fan of tattoos. I don't think I will ever be. I think most tattoos look trashy on girls, especially the "tramp stamp". Smaller tattoos on girls look okay but I think that temporary tattoos are a much better idea.

On guys, it's just a way to look tougher- personally it looks lame to me.

uhh way to generalize, i don't even wear sleeveless shirts so hardly anyone even sees mine... lol. How can I be trying to look tough? lol

Well someone has to see your tattoo... you can't cover your arms all of the time lol. In the summer it will probably be on display. If you get inked, don't you want to show it off or what's the point of getting it?

I guess I did make a generalization about guys getting inked to look tougher but that's the vibe I have gotten from every guy that I have talked to that mentions his tattoo or clearly displays it.
