Camera stolen at my own party...
This weekend I had a big New Years Eve party at my house, and somebody stole my camera from my own party. This wasn't just some random party either, pretty much everyone there I am friends with, and someone stole my camera.
This isn't just any camera either, it was a Canon video camera worth $1200 retail and it was my 17th birthday present from my parents. It also had my memory card with 1400 pictures on it and a tape which had a Seahawks game on it that I went to on the 10th.
I've had lots of parties (maybe like 4 or 5 just this past summer alone) and this is the first time anything has happened. I feel like shit and I don't think I'll be the same, or can look at any of my friends the same again. The only thing positive is that I am able to claim insurance on it...but still, who does that? I welcome them to my house to celebrate one of the biggest party nights of the year, and they ruined my entire night, party and "Happy New Year". Fuck I can't believe this.

Well, who leaves their expensive camera out in the open with tons of people around? Doesnt really matter if they're your friends or not, the truth of it is that some people need money and when they see something out in the open that could be worth money, they'll take it. Also, someone might not have known that it belonged to you and thought that it belonged to someone else.
I think its really sucky that people do stuff like that....I had my car broken into earlier this year and it really pissed me off. No one has any right to take something that doesnt belong to them, but what can you do?
Since you said you know all of the people, maybe tell them all about it. If the majority of them are on your facebook, i would personally send them all messages telling them that your camera was stolen and that you're wondering if any of them saw it. Hopefully you'll guilt trip the person so much that they'll give it back or say that they "found it".
Moral of the story: Don't leave expensive stuff out infront of lots of people. Put it away in your room or something next time.
with expensive things, i usually hoard all of it that i don't want broken/stolen into my parents' bedroom and lock it up.
Anyway like baby_e said, i'd email or message the people you invited and ask if they'd seen it...slim chance that anyone will 'fess up but it's worth a shot.
You should also gather the contact information of all the party participants, that would greatly aid the investigation.
