So i dont know who to take econ 103 with... Akbar or Allen? Basically i want the best grade possible, so with which prof will it be easier to achieve the better grade?
well, i took Allen's last semester and I found that if you read the book and be very patient in his class, you will be fine:teeth: One of my friend took Akbar 's class and she found that it was not very hard. It really depends on your purpose: want a high grade or really learn econ...
I had Allen last semester and I sat in Akbar's lecture for 2 hours... in my personal opinion it depends on the way you learn and what you like. Allen goes over the concepts and principles thoroughly and makes sure that you understand it. Akbar goes over these things too but not as thoroughly, however he does go into the actual work more. I think I might've had an easier time getting homework done if I were in Akbar's, but I learned a lot from Allen.
I had Doug and friends had Akabar last semester. In fact, it all depends on what kinda learner you are. If you can self-learn everything well by reading textbook, and you preview before class, take Akabar definitely. If not, you need Doug to explain stuff for you. BUT Doug's exams were really hard, all real-life case studies.. like.. relating WW2 to economics.. mum's death to economics.. bla bla bla.. Even if you had studied hard, you wouldn't be sure of your answers. I ended up getting a B but it wasn't easy. A friend got B+ and the rest got B-, but they didn't know as much as I did.
Just out of curiousity, is econ difficult? I'm not sciency or much of a critical thinker in that sense.. so the only faculty I'd ever be in is arts (well except I'm majoring in cmns but whatever). I've never been good at math-y, science-y type things, even psychology.
But I'm stressed about these 2 Q credits. Econ will take care of one so I almost took it and might over the summer.
i'm also trying to figure out if i should take it with akbar or allen i checked out ratemyprofessors.ca and since i am not planning to major in economics i'm leaning towards akbar because of the, according to sources, easier exams and less abstract style of teaching.
