Is there a way to calculate your % to GPA?

edited December 2007 in General
On WebCT, my cmns261 is coming up as a total of 76/100 so is there a way to calculate this into an official letter grade? I assume it's like a C+ but is there a specific way to calculate? It's not up on goSFU yet.

I googled and ended up getting a whole bunch of people asking the same question LOL.

well, most faculties have 75-79 as a B... so that would be a B... unless communications is different, or it is marked on a curve...
I think for the most part its
    50-54 - D
    55-59 - C-
    60-64 - C
    65-69 - C+
and so on, up to A+

Oh really? I don't think cmns is different.

I was just thinking in high school frame of mind (which is really irrelevant..that was 2 years ago!). Yay, very happy since this class nearly killed me. :\

Also, keep in mind that marks scaling can destroy the link between your actual course percentage and the grade you get.

The professor is the only one who can assign you a letter grade. It's very subjective, and the method they use to distribute the grades varies by prof, faculty, and class.

I would guess thats a B or B+ though, depending on the professor (he might scale, depending on the average)

    What's an A- ?? (for communications)

I hate this scaling thing about SFU. It's so irritating..the subjectivity is ridiculous.

Well, hey, not bad. I was expecting this class to be my lowest mark by a mile but anything a B or whatever is great by any means.
