... NO CRIMINAL CHARGES??? that's BS.

If I were the parents, I would have done more than tear up the foosball table and throw it on their lawn.

sigh.. that just shows children aren't the only ones who don't act their age.. adults can be just as reckless and just as stupid despite being called role models..

if i were the parents.. i would just stand in front of ppl's lawn and stare at them.. because nothing will haunt them more than having them see those haunting faces that once belonged to a happy family..

in regards to law.. there isn't a viable criminal charge to proceed with right now and unless they make amendments.. i don't think it would work.. =(

Would this be a bad situation to make a crack about emo's and myspace?
  • edited November 2007
Oh wow... that emo girl was owned...

That's right. No criminal charges is bull, the parents who hacked up the ping pong table should have been charged...

I don't even believe that story that the other girls parents were the ones who made the myspace account.

I think the other girls parents fessed up to making up a story that they created the account to avoid their daughter getting into trouble, even though there was no law against it in the end.

It was their vile daughter who created the account

I don't know, while what the parents of the ex-friend did was just plain awful, I can't help but wonder what would've happened if the parents of Megan would've just restricted their daughter from accessing that site. First of all, when something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Maybe young, naive girls can't notice this, but the parents should've definitely picked up on it.

She claimed that the boy was "so hot" and whatnot, and the mother seemed to agree. At one point, you have to sit back and let reality sink in. The girl wasn't exactly the type that a guy like that would go after. So why wouldn't you just assume that it's a hoax? Better safe than sorry, right? Hell, they even knew he was 3 years older than her, and didn't seem to have a problem with this? Seriously, if they just fucking thought about it realistically, why would this supposedly hot 16 year old guy want to talk to your fat, ugly 13 year old daughter? Somebody with some sense would know that either he's a child molester, or he's just fucking with her.

Secondly, they knew their daughter had self-esteem problems and suicidal ideation, so why even let her speak to complete strangers? I'm sure they're tech saavy enough to realize that the internet is full of assholes, and it's a forum for people to be assholes.

So yeah, The ex-friend and her parents are grade-A douchebags for poking at this girl's self-esteem like that, but the girl's parents should've intervened much earlier.

hmm.. i guess Megan's parents were trying to help boost her self-esteem by allowing her to socialize with people? so maybe the internet isn't the most conventional way.. but it's effective.. ppl don't/can't judge you by your looks.. just your words.. so in this sense it would be easier for Megan to socialize.. and it'll help take her mind off of any suicidal thoughts.. because when you have too much time on your own.. thoughts will go astray..=(

like morro mentioned.. maybe the parents just put too much trust in humanity and hence didn't pick up on it?

I can't think of any specific examples right now, but this seems pretty mild compared to some news articles I've read, and sure as hell doesn't make me "lose all trust in humanity"!
