Has anyone taken this course as a part of distance education? I don't know too much about distance classes so any recommendations/comments about distance ed. in general would be much appreciated!
hey nicole, i've taken a few classes by distance ed and personally i really liked them. you get to work at your own pace and only have to worry about the midterms, final and assignments throughout the semester, which is really not a lot, especially with first year classes. the only problem with distance ed is that you have to really be self-motivated to keep up-to-date with the readings, since you don't have a prof or a TA telling you what to do on a weekly basis. that was the hardest part of a distance ed class. for me, learning on my own with no prof and only the textbook was ideal. i prefer studying like that so it worked for me. it really depends on your learning style. but, all in all, for convenience and for a no-stress class, distance ed is the way to go! hope this helps you out :)
hey im taking cmns 110 now in distance ed! honestly alot of times i actually forget im taking it =P since theres no class and such...but if you are self motivated (ie do NOT procrastinate) then distance ed is awesome! i found it a little difficult because theres no prof to kinda direct you on how homeowork and such should be...plus for cmns 110 theres a crap load of reading!!
btw if your semester uses the same books i can sell you for cheap!
I took CMNS 110 over the summer - it was bullshit, LOL. And VERY easy, I barely did any reading and got a B+ or an A - ( I did cmns 130 over the summer DE too but I don't know which was which now... I'm pretty sure B-).
The readings are so boring but the papers are marked VERY easy. I also like distance ed, of course, not for everything, but I love having school 3 days a week but still maintaining 4 classes...distance lets me do that easily.
It seems to look more and more enticing. I'm in CMNS 130 right now and it's ridiculously easy. A lot of reading, but the papers/assignments are a breeze. The lectures are really not relative to the readings most of the time so I feel like it's a waste of time. Course Catalogue is down for today, but if Distance Ed is open for 110 it would probably be my first choice.
