Bios Lock out: help!
hey, i have an ACER travel mate laptop. I need to reformat the HD but the Bios is locked out.
I've tried removing all power sources (including the little battery on the motherboard) for nearly a month in hopes that the password would be lost. I also tried down loading this little bios password identification program, but it didn't work.
Any one else have any bright ideas before I pay the bux and send it back to ACER?

Maybe this might help.
Other than that, I would suggest upgrading the BIOS if this one is locked out. If you update it, it might get rid of the password.

Apparently you need to upgrade the BIOS for these models anyway, if you want to install XP SP2. Check it out and see if that works.
I tried all that (except the motherboard thing involving switchin of the pins because for the life of me I cannot get my laptop appart without breaking something).
Anyhow, lets hope that it wont cost too much....
