Understanding Yourself

edited October 2006 in General
Understanding one’s self is a fundamental and essential part of being human. Although the self is an important concept to understand and has been researched extensively, it is impossible to define in a textbook. The only person who can help figure your identity out is YOU.

Our identity is strongly linked with our social world and those around us, so it is also important to recognize the social groups which we identify with. Not only is our understanding of the world filtered through our understanding of self, but there is a reciprocal relationship between the two.

With this in mind, there is no better time to figure things out then now. Although everyone goes through this phase at different times in their life, university provides the best environment in which to do so. Just like we sometimes miss the high school days for the fun and freindship they provided, university will also one day be a thing of the past...it is up to you to decide how to enjoy it while you're here.
