Bit of a problem

edited August 2007 in General
ok so i am enrolled in cmpt 165 some say this is a super easy class but this class for me has been super hard i came into it thinking itll be a easy A and didn't put much effort towards it now ill be lucky to pass the class. Now the thing is I know I won't get higher then a C if lucky barely a C minus I will have to redo this class again. Now two questions does SFU take the better mark? And would you just write this course off for now and focus on other finals where have you have a chance to get a excellent mark?

You are allowed to re-do up to 5 classes at SFU. They will only apply the better mark to your transcript but it will show up as a re-do.

If you were in my shoes would you just focus on the two other classes?

What would happen if you tried to re-take a sixth course? It just wouldn't let you register for it?

If I were you, I'd check to see if that class is a prerequisite for any future classes you need to take. If it is, then you should at least get the minimum mark required for it to count as a pre-requisite. You can usually find this kind of information in the schedule of classes or in the course planner

After your 5 re-dos are used up, they start to take the average of any re-dos. For example, if you got an F the first time and an A the second time, you'd get a C in the class overall. Hurts don't it

Say you finish your degree and you want to send your transcript to law schools or what not. Do they send the GPA of your degree or of all the classes you have done at SFU?

Most (if not all) places you apply for admission will require a full copy of your transcript, which will obviously show which classes you have withdrawn (WD) or which classes you have re-done. It also shows the marks you recieved in every class. If you want to take a look at your transcript, you can find it on http://go.sfu.ca

Never go into any class thinking it'll be an "easy A". There are no easy As. None. If you're concerned about grades, then retake. If you're not, then live with the consequences of your decision to take it easy in the class.
