Live Earth and Environmental Impact

edited July 2007 in General
Did anyone catch the Live Earth concert this past weekend?
Do you guys feel as if it achieved its goal in creating awareness for climate change?

Personally, I think it was a good concept much like the Live8 concert. But after catching a few performances from the show, I realized I didn't learn much about climate change or how to reduce my carbon footprint, at least not much more of what I had known already. I mean, I think it's important to get this message across that small things you do to conserve energy and to reduce carbon emissions will help contribute to the global concern, but I felt the concert mainly had some popular bands play some of their hit songs...

I am interested in helping the environment. I'm thinking I might start taking some Sustainable Development courses at SFU so I can learn more about it and since i'm planning to be in a business-related field, I think it it would be beneficial for me know how I can run an environmentally sound organization.

then again, Live Earth has kind of got me thinking about taking these courses, so maybe it has done part of its job of creating awareness? :P

Live Earth was awesome! Just seeing something like that on such a large scale was impressive, especially considering they are trying to raise awareness for something that has the potential to effect so many people. Maybe someone should do a mini live earth here in Vancouver.
