50 Most Important People on the Web

edited July 2007 in General
An evaluation by PC World of the most important personalities behind web innovation. Notice how they point to popular apps rather than the stuff that makes the web work.

I don't really agree with the top 5 though, I would rather have it:

1. Eric Schmidt (Google)
2. Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook)
3. Craig Newmark (Craigslist)
4. Markus Frind (Plenty of Fish)
5. Jimmy Wales (Wikipedia)

Wow, Meg Whitman of eBay at #28? Somehow I feel eBay got snubbed.

Personally, I would've put the "Peanut-Butter Jelly Time" banana guy at #1....he rocks.

Ebay is a cluttered and out of date site. Sure it kicked off the whole ecommerce industry (along with amazon) but they really need to spruce it up if they want to stay competitive. I think its the Ebay brand that should get all the credit, not really the technology as the site has hardly evolved to keep up with the times.
