Fun With Transfer Credits

edited June 2007 in General
See if you can help me out with this one:

I am a current student at SFU. I transfered from Langara in Fall 2006, and brought about 40 or so credits with me. I thought that was the end of my transferring days, but now I've found that Langara has two Thai Language courses that I desperately want to take. I figure if I'm going to take them, I'd might as well get the credit (even though it's not necessary for my degree, I will still want to show I took the courses when I apply for PDP next year). I plan on taking the courses this September, in addition to taking some courses at SFU.

Has anyone dealt with this kind of transfer situation before? Any idea how it works? Thanks for any input or tips.

Get a Letter of Permission from SFU, and then take the courses.

You must get the L.o.P., though or they will not credit you for the courses taken "out of institution".

Ah okay. I figured it'd be best to talk to someone before taking the courses, but it's good to know it's required! Did you do this before?

Looks like it's on the website too, in case anyone else is wondering how to do this!

It's always good to get permission from the department for this type of thing, thats all I know

Never did the LoP thing but it was one of the horror stories I happened to run across when I was reading some pamphlet on the most common mistakes with transferring from colleges.
