Human Nature...Hmmm

edited October 2006 in General
When people say "thats just human nature" what does that mean? Instead of listening to what people say, you have to study peoples actions...

All of us value the following:

1. Leisure.

We're structured mentally in such a way, that we can't conciously choose a accomplish a goal if we can choose another easier way. Sooner we get the job done. Sooner we can enjoy leisure.

Given a harder way or an easier way. we'll choose the easier way to do something.

We're all basically lazy. This is not good or bad.

All human progress comes from doing things faster, better, so laziness can be a motivating factor.

2. We try to get the most for the least expenditure.

We maximize. To get more.

If we're offered 10 dollars an hour or 12 dollars an hour, we'll take the most resources.

We will allocate resources to get the most output for least input.

We're all greedy. Not good or bad. Just basic human nature.

We're never satisfied, continually trying to get more and more all of our lives. We are never ever really contented.

3. We improve the quality of our lives.

All human action is a desire for improvement.

Improvement to our condition, is the driving force behind. We can't consciously act to worsen our situation.

A person who jumps off a bridge thinks he/she's better off, than without the action.

So we're ambitious

So far. We're all lazy, greedy, ambitious. We might be for different things...

4. We experience happiness or unhappiness for ourselves.

We act primarily from our own point of view.

So we're selfish.

Even charitable acts, are done out of selfishness. It's the best thing for us, at that moment.

This is essential for survival.

5. Ignorance

No one can know everything about even one subject. So we're always acting on the basis of incomplete information.

So.

We're all ignorant.

No matter how much we learn... we will always be acting on incomplete knowledge.

Finally.

6. We have an ego.

We think highly of ourselves. Intelligence. Personality. Appearance.

We're all vain.

This isn't good or bad, it's just our nature.

The Fashion industry. Cosmetic industry. Automotive industry. Housing. Home furnishing.

Appeals to our vanity.

Not a basic need.

So. We have a basic human nature by definition causes us each to be. Lazy. Greedy. Ambitious. Selfish. Ignorant. vain.

Giving in to the worst side of this nature is the reason for so much unhappiness of the world!

6 billion lazy, greedy, ambitious, selfish, ignorant, vain people running on this planet, trying to make a living and create families.

It's great to be human.

But something's gotta give.

:teeth:
