SPEED UP YOUR FIREFOX [3 EASY STEPS]

edited April 2007 in General
1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows: (just need to doubleclick it)

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it :
nglayout.initialpaint.delay
and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

isn't it already fast enough, or is there a noticeable difference?

i knew about it a while ago, reformatted and didn't remember to do the settings.

i just came across it, and yes it does make a NOTICEABLE difference. especially on broadband.

whoa, thanks for the tip :) it is faster...being the impatient person that i am this'll save me from hitting 'reload' over and over again when there's a lag lol

Hey I tried it, it does make a slight difference...I'll give it a few days before I decide it was really worth it (even though it only took 1 minute to do lol)
