Headphones/Earbuds

edited March 2007 in General
Just wondering what kind of headphones or earbuds you use for your music player?

I have a pair of Sony noise-canceling headphones (their cheapest model), but they are hot and itchy. I can't wear them in the summer because of that. And I don't wear them in the winter cuz I can't wear them with a toque. So they pretty much are never used!

Today I broke down and bought myself a good pair of earbuds. I'm SO impressed with them! They are SkullCandy 'Smokin' Buds' and not only is the sound quality really good, the design blocks out ambient sound. I was riding the bus and it was so quiet thanks to these! Plus they come with three different sizes of earpieces (the little rubber bit), as well as a snazzy box for them. There is also no sound-leakage so everyone around you doesn't have to listen to your music! Definitely recommended... London Drugs has them for $49, but you could probably find them cheaper online.

So what headphones do you use?

IMPORTANT EDIT: My brother informed me after I bought my earbuds that he had purchased a pair sometime last year and his left earbud broke after a month. And GUESS WHAT happened to me yesterday? Yup, the left one broke. They lasted a pitiful 3 weeks before breaking, and I kept REALLY good care of them. I'm trying to deal with getting them refunded/replaced right now... but if you haven't bought them yet, then DON'T!

I'm spending pretty much a whole day on the plane when I go to Thailand in April, so it'll be worth having some really snazzy headphones!

oh i want those earbuds! those apple earbuds keep breaking on me. it's been three times so far...so i'm seriously contemplating on these skullcandy ones...

though i DO have a 3 yr warranty on my iPod thru FutureShop, I wonder if that covers the earbuds as well...

But with the warranty, you just have crappy apple ones and not snazzy SkullCandy ones.

oh wow.. am i glad i stopped by this thread.. my ipod earphones just broke down this week and i was just contemplating whether to buy the original ones from sony or try some other brand because like you.. i really have a problem with the ambient sounds.. especially the bus.. and loud ppl talking on their cell phones.. =____=" so i'll definitely give these a try if they do what like you said they do!! =)

yeah once u go to these noise cancelling "in-ear" earphones, its hard to go back to conventional earphones

definately worth it if u are lookin at replacing old earphones

Yeah, I ride the bus and skytrain all the time, so it's really nice to be able to block out the noise and just listen to my music (and not the music of the guy blasting his earbuds beside me!)

Also, since you can listen to the music at a much lower level, it's a lot better for your ears!

JVC makes a brand called Marshmallow and Panasonic has a similar model as well. So there are more options available. I recommend the SkullCandy ones, though!

Static shocks?! Yikes. And in the ears is the last place I'd want to be shocked.

Yep, the black was sold out online too. Apparently it's popular!

I'm glad to hear that the JVC ones are good too! They are quite a bit cheaper, so that is a plus.
