ECON 103

edited September 2015 in General
I've never taken an econ 103 and I was wondering how difficult it is, and if there are group projects or presentations and are there group projects? My calculus has become pretty rusty since I last took it. My prof is Gulriz Barkin.

  • no calculus required for 103. Also no group projects or presentations. Just intro to micro economics. The workload is average for a first year course, and the difficulty is average. If taken in the fall the class is usually made up of students in their first semester at SFU. This has pros and cons that play into the fact the course is curved. Of the first years many will have not really adjusted yet and will probably perform a little below average in the course. At the same time though there will be keen students who work really hard and do better. In my experience most senior students taking these classes as electives (core intro courses of other majors) either slack off and do mediocre or try and do very well.
