Help with GPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My issue is very complicated, so basically I think am failing a course this term(or get a D). My CGPA is 2.2, on the other hand the other two courses I am taking this term I am getting B+ and C+, I was wondering if I will be on academic probation. For the course I failed, I think I am getting a D not a F don't really know the difference between the two. This is a big wake-up call for me, I know that I have to start studying harder and put more effort. Anyways If my CGPA really went below 2.0 do I get a letter saying that I am on probation right away? This is my first year, I am still sorting things out and I would really appreciate it if anyone could answer my questions!!!

Yea basically they will send you a letter once your cgpa drops below 2.0 and you will have to go above 2.0 on the following semester or else you will be kicked out :/. In order to know if you will get a 2.0 cgpa this semseter, you can use this tool: http://www.sfu.ca/students/advising-resources/calculators/gpa-calculator.html

    Good luck!!
  • bobminion is right, in that you will receive a letter stating you have been placed on academic probation. You will have one semester to take more courses and bring your CGPA back up above that 2.0 mark. If you are unable to do that for some reason you will be "required to withdraw" (RTW). This is not the end for your SFU career though. There is a program you can enter into called 'Back on Track', which will allow you to continue as an SFU student, although there are a few hoops you'll have to jump through, including taking 1 semester off, enrolling in 'Back on Track' courses, which are basically courses in time management and organization. These courses are pass or fail and once completed you can return to full-time studies, but the program will take 3 semesters. I honestly believe it's worth it though as your RTW will be expunged and if you really are struggling with your grades and navigating university life this 3 semester program can be life changing.
