Transit from BBY to HBC

edited January 2015 in General
So, I have a class at HBC and I only have 1 hr to transit from BBY. The easiest way is taking the 135 that goes directly there, but is it faster or is transferring to skytrain by 144/145 to waterfront faster?

thanks.

  • If you looked up the routes, they are about the same within only a couple minutes (like <5 mins).

In my opinion however, I think the 135 directly to there is the fastest as it just takes a direct beeline along Hastings to HC. On average, the trips took me about 50 mins +/- 5 mins. Plus, the stop is right beside it basically, an intersection away, you wanna get off at Homer I believe? Or whatever the stop after Abbott is I think (been a while since I went there). As opposed to having to walk from Waterfront, though it's about the same distance, but have to go up crowded escalator and corridors.

You also have to take into account the convenience of not having to transfer, so you can nap or study without interruptions the whole way.

Also, though the trains come often, TransLink is a piece of shiet and breaks down more often than not but that rarely happens with buses so your chances of getting stuck is lessened. And don't take the 144 to get to Production, that is the slowest way. It stops at almost every stop in the residential area whereas 145 has two stops.

Perhaps you can experiment one day to find out which is actually faster and time it.

Why did I write so much for a simple question? I don't know, I'm a nerd and I'm bored.

  • Taking the 135 takes approximately 45-50 minutes to get to the Homer stop, depending on the time of travel. I think that's your quickest way of getting there. Usually when you have to transfer, it will only create gaps of wasted time and you might get to class late.
