Is it possible for the department to make an exception when it comes to grades?

The program I am trying to get into requires a C- in one class that I am finding really hard and I'm worried I may not make it. If I were to get a grade lower than a C- (say a D), is there any chance they would make an exception?

It would be best to speak to an advisor about that. But, in my opinion, I seriously doubt they would make an exception as great as that. Even for WQB courses, if you want those WQB credits to count, you need at least a C- in the classes. For a program, I doubt they would let somebody in with less than a C- when the whole student population needs that grade (or higher) for WQB requirements alone.

Good luck with the class though.
  • I've heard of some faculty making exceptions - the main issue is a lot of students don't try/appeal because of the 'you need a C-' but its really dependent on the course its a pre-req for, sometimes the prof will consider waiving it. Worth a shot to try!
