Computer courses?

edited April 2015 in General
Im trying to find a course that will help me understand some fundamental computer programs. Can anyone tell me if there are any entry level courses that focus on basic computer programs such as Excel and Access, or at least incorporate these programs?

Thanks

  • For your purposes, BUS 237 comes to mind. They teach you how to use basic Microsoft Office programs like Word Excel and indeed Access. There is extra stuff you have to learn too(Since it is a business class) but that is mostly easy memorization.
  • Thanks for the response.

I looked into it. I think its pretty close to what Im looking for.

The area you want to learn is a very small portion of BUS 237. A lot of it will be irrelevant for your purposes. The assignments are moderately time consuming as well so make sure if you take it, you won't half-ass things.
  • If you're not business focused or would like to save $, there are a lot of free courses/workshops on these programs that your local public library offers from time to time.

YouTube tutorials are a huge help too, I learned a lot of video and special effects editing techniques way back and learned the rest just playing around with it.
  • I agree with @TalkUBC about online tutorials. You just have to be motivated enough to keep up. Here is a good playlist
  • @DKO Thanks for that! I put it in my "Watch Later" aka procrastination playlist!
