I might need to choose between CMPT 340-Biomedical Computing and CMPT 404-Cryptography and Cyrptographic Protocols. This is gonna be my last semester so I just need the easier couse between those two. Any thoughts?
Took 340 last year with Ghassan, i think its the same prof next sem. Honestly its not a bad course, but you need to keep on top of things, hes not afraid to delve right into the math behind it all (all the topics covered should be on his website).
theres no midterm, but matlab assignments which are really nicely laid out and can be confusing if you start them late. that said, the prof and ta were super helpful, so if you have questions, ask. there was also a group semester-long project. you pretty much got to pick whatever you wanted to make, an app, program or whatever, it just had to be related to the medical field.
tbh the final was killer and anyone i spoke to felt the same, but i swear he had to have scaled it cause i ended up with a pretty damn decent mark, despite not having kept up with material (but our project was pretty solid). So i say again, you can do really well if you keep up with it. Dont let the no midterm thing fool you, you will be tested on it all at the end and the course IS content heavy. id also recommend having taking linear algebra before as well.
