Is access code for stat101 distance education really necessary?

i am taking stat101 distance education this term.
i got a used book, but an access code for the course is almost $90+. 
it is very expensive that i do not know i need to buy it or not 
can anyone share experience with me? 
i wonder to know how i can do well in this course

  • I can't really remember if the access code was required or not. I remember it giving to access to some online graphing tools that were nice to have. As well when using the tools you could auto populate data from the book when generating graphs which could save you inputting it all in manually which saved time when doing the homework.

    You could do these things in a different tool though like excel. Can you just buy an access code online? If so I would wait until after you start the course and then see if you end up needing it. If you eventually do need it for something you can buy it online and be good to go.
  • Is the textbook the basic practice of statistics 6 ed? If so this website might help. It is the website I was describing. It is for the 5th edition of the book, but all of the tools will be just as valuable.
