Internal transfer to Software System

edited March 2014 in General
Hi every1, im a IAT one student that wants to transfer to SoSy, so im taking all the System one courses. I've taken CMPT 130,MATH 150, and taking CMPT 135,CMPT 150,MACM 101,MSE 101 at the monent .However, im still kinda confused by what courses will be needed in order to apply for the transfer, and what GPA will get me into SoSy. I've looked up online and found "No course may be included in the average if it is a duplicate of any previous course completed at Simon Fraser University or elsewhere. All three courses must be completed prior to application."  <-- im not sure what does it mean.
Big thanks!

  • That simply means that if you repeat a course, it does not count towards your average.

After you complete this sesmter (135 and 150), you'll be good to go! You just have to apply to official switch to software systems.
  • Yeah internal transfer is actually quite easy for most SFU programs.

In summary it is one math and two computings or two computings and one math. From the courses you mentioned you will have 3 computings and 2 math so you will be good to go.

With respect to GPA I'm not sure if there actually is a minimum. I have a recollection of it maybe being 2.5, but I don't see that mentioned anywhere. I would assume you need at least C-'s in the courses you use when applying. Since you have 5 courses just choose the combination that has the highest GPA.

Once you are ready to transfer just go see the SoSy adviser. They should be able to take care of everything.
