Hi,
anyone has any advice about how to pass in this subject?
the
assignments are quite hard. they have nothing in common with what we are
doing in lecture and the lecturer and TA have different expectations.
It seems that they expect us to know everything already.

  • Try reading the text book.
  • Introductory courses are generally a piece of cake so the class shouldn't be too difficult. If you keep up to date with your readings and attend all lectures, you'll be fine ;)
  • I heard COGS100 is one of the hardest "introductory" courses though. Complete mindfuck course.
  • I was going to take this course and somehow I dropped it before the class starts just because this is a class on SAT morning....................
  • friend got a 78% and that was a C-. Do not take this course!
  • Pretty sure that means it's rediculously easy and your friend put in no effort.. Or they were exaggerating
  • It's hard for an introductory course. The book is easy to read and understand but so far I do not see the link between what we do in lectures, the book and our assignments, I'm really concerned. and midterm is coming soon :s
  • Because the assignments are more with the lecture, or the book? Or neither at all?
  • Neither of them. You have to do your own research. Some of the topics of the assignments come later in the semester, so now we are on our own and we have to dig through the books etc.
